The Discovery Of Neverland

Chapter 6

POV: Isaac

I manage to land on my feets this time when the shadow drops me on the ground. I'm getting the hang of it. I walk to the camp looking for Peter. I find him talking to Felix.

"Peter, I need to talk to you"

Without waiting for a response I continue and go straight to the point.

"When a friend of me said ,,I believe,, no shadow came for him, why did it work for me but not for him?".

Peter says "look around you, don't you think if everyone could come here we would be here with more than a million boys instead of 30?".

That makes sense but that doesn't answer my question.
"How is it possible that I can come here and he can't?"

The look on Peter his face makes me think I'm not gonna like the answer. 

Felix says "only boys who are lost can come here. Only boys who don't feel like they belong in their world. That's what Neverland is. A new home. A place where every lost boy belongs.".

Peter notices my disbelief and shock. He says "hey, try to see it in a positive way? It means your friend isn't lost."

He is right, but it doesn't make me feel much better.

I walk away into the woods to think.

Wendy approaches me. "Hey you ready?"
Oh shit I completely forgot.
Devin.

Me and Wendy walk back to the others.
Apparently everyone is already getting ready.
A boy a bit younger than me gives a knife. Suddenly Peter puts his arm around me.

"Don't worry, you are not gonna have to fight"

I look at him confused. What is he talking about. He than says with a smile

"I have a different job for you, you are gonna be with me and get Devin out of his cage"

He walks away while he high fives some of the younger boys and speaks hope into the older ones.

I don't know what it is about him that makes him so powerful but nobody doubts his leadership.

Peter walks to this big rock next to the campfire and stands on it.

"Boys we all are about to fight out sworn enemy. I will not lie, some of us might die."

I hold in my laugh. I didn't expect him to give a motivational speech, and he for sure isn't starting good.

"I know some of you are scared, but I want you all to think about devin. Most of you have known him. He is with Captain Hook. all alone locked up in a cage for days, most likely starving. None of our fears can even compare to the pain and terror he must be going through right now!"

I look around me and see the boys agree.
Damn he is actually pulling this off.

"He is our family! And we will save him!"

I can't believe my eyes. Everyone is about to risk their life for Devin.

Everyone starts to cheer and walk into the forest.

Peter walks to me.

He smirks and says "It's magical, don't you think?"

I'm still amazed by what I just witnessed.
"Yeah, that was very impressive.
It's amazing how you can bring courage in everyone and make them believe in themselves"

He smiles as he raises his eyebrow.
"Did I make you believe in yourself?"

I chuckle "you made me believe I can help you save Devin"

He smirks "good enough for me"

I catch Peter staring at me but he quickly looks away.

He clears his throat and says "we should go after the group before we get left behind"

He starts walking to the others.

I get why he is the leader now.
He is the reason Neverland feels like a home.
I smile to myself while I walk after him towards the group.
