VII. Island

Azula felt the warm summer wind in her face, she smelled the scent of lava rock and ashes.

There was no doubt, she was home.

And she was coming home a Victor.

The princess stood proudly in the end of the ship that was taking them home, looking at the ocean ahead as they moved full speed towards the Fire Nation.

Ty Lee had definitely noticed- After Azula's incredible victory in Ba Sing Se, she was shining as bright as the fire she bent.

Her aura glowed stronger, and she just looked...very attractive.

Sure of herself, impetuous, and silently triumphant.

The brunette stood next to Azula, feeling energised by the Princess' magnetism, and they both stared at the ocean ahead in a comfortable silence.

''So, will you visit your family this time? Or you still plan to live incognito.'' Azula asked Ty Lee slightly turning her gaze to her.

She knew this was a delicate subject for the brunette, but Azula wanted to understand what was Ty Lee so frightened about coming back home.

''I don't want to see them. Not yet, I am not ready. I don't even know what I would tell them...'' Ty Lee said honestly, with guilt spilling from her words.

That told Azula all she needed to know.

Ty Lee was still ridden by guilt, and the shame for the disappointment she probably caused her whole family when she left.

''Ty Lee it's fine, don't worry. You won't have to yet. We're not headed to the Capital.'' Azula told her.

Ty Lee looked at Azula perplexed. ''Oh, we're not?''

''I received a hawk from my father this morning. He wanted to send me and Zuko to Ember island this weekend, for a deserved vacation after our victory. ''

''Oh that sounds very nice!'' Ty Lee said, happy for them.

''Zuko wanted to bring Mai now that they're a thing so... I'm taking you.'' Azula said.

Ty Lee's heart almost exploded. She turned towards the Princess smiling and enveloped her in one of her usual warm hugs.

''Thank you, Azula.'' She told her, almost in a whisper.

Right when Azula was about to hug her back, the captain of the ship walked up to them.

''Princess, we will be arriving to Ember Island in about thirty minutes.'' He said interrupting their hug.

Azula simply nodded understandingly.

''It's going to be great to hang out on the beach and do nothing....'' Ty Lee said, placing her hands behind her head, imitating a relaxed position.

''Oh, didn't your family own a house on Ember Island?''

''Yeah, we used to come every summer when we were kids...'' Azula replied.

''That must have been fun!'' Ty Lee said.

''That, was a long time ago.'' Zuko replied with bitterness.

The Ember Island shore consequently appeared in the horizon.

The beach was absolutely beautiful, filled with tall palm trees and many elegant-looking houses with red roofs.

Sadly, they wouldn't be staying in their big old family beach house, as it had been abandoned for years now.

Instead, they would be staying at Azula's mentors' shack.
