Beth's Story - Queen's Gambit OST
''So...'' The firelord began.
''I just received a container from Torxen. A couple of sun warriors delivered it themselves.'' Zuko told Aang, who had just arrived to Fire Nation Capital the as request of the firelord.
''Really! What did he sent?'' Aang said, excited that his friend had gotten something from the Sun Warrior shaman that oversaw their trial.
''He sent me a real dragon egg, and a letter.'' Zuko responded with a serious demeanour.
''WOAH. A dragon egg!? That's amazing! You'll get to fly a dragon and have him as companion, just like Avatar Roku did!''
''Yes, I'm honoured for the present, but, I was even more amazed at what he wrote on his letter... That's the real reason why I called you in today Aang.'' Zuko said, with his tone of seriousness.
''Why, what's the matter? What did he say?'' Aang asked with intrigue.
''My sister... Azula, She's staying with the Sun Warriors and training with them right now, as we speak.'' Zuko said.
''No way... That's were she went to after she escaped prison!?'' The Avatar asked incredulous.
''Yes... Apparently she has also passed Ren and Shaw's judgement. Turxon has agreed to take her in as his pupil, to train her in the ancient knowledge. Not to mention, she also got a dragon egg, just like mine.'' Zuko said almost in disbelief himself showing the letter to Aang.
Aang scanned quickly through the letter and looked back at Zuko dumbfounded before getting his words out.
''That's insane! I would've never guessed that!'' The Avatar replied with amazement but unbothered.
''I guess she must have done something right for the great masters to have her studying amongst the sun warriors... right?''
''Well... All I know is that she escaped our highest security prison thanks to Ty Lee, and even if it's been three years since the war ended, she's still considered an enemy to the newly re-established Fire Nation. So now that I know where she is, is it expected of me to go after her?'' Zuko asked Aang.
''Right, those are the facts. But what is your heart telling you?'' Aang asked him, knowing his friend wasn't buying into his own argument.
Zuko sighted and look toward's the sunset from the balcony were they were talking.
''That I should just let her go...'' He said softly.
''...If she is with Torxen and learning from the masters, who am I to keep judging her?''
''I think you are taking the right decision Zuko.'' Aang said with a soft smile.
''I do not know if your sister is capable of a redemption, but if Azula was open enough to healing within herself, I think is her human right to give her compassion and let her have her freedom. More so if she is about to forego some shamanic training with the sun warriors. She must have transformed enough to earn that privilege.'' Aang replied.
''Yeah... I knew you would know what to say Aang, that's why you are my most trusted advisor and friend.'' Zuko replied with gratefulness.
''Well, we all deserve second chances. You had your uncle to guide you. Azula's path might have been drastically different, but thanks to you, I was able to witness how people are capable of changing, and it begins with one's own decision to do so.'' The Avatar said.
Zuko simply smiled back.
''Yes, that's right. Thank you, Avatar Aang.'' The Firelord said bowing his head to Aang.
