Azula's thirteenth birthday had probably been the most memorable of her life so far.

Not that it had been the most fun or anything close to that, but because so many things happened the year Azula and her friends turned thirteen.

The three of them had finally graduated from the Royal Fire Academy for girls, and as planned by her father, the Princess dropped out of the regular education system afterwards to be trained full time within the royal palace.

Ty Lee accomplished her intended mission of running away from home and joined the circus. She left the Capital with them to travel and perform across the Fire Nation and the Colonies in the Earth Kingdom.

Mai on the other hand, enrolled in the Fire Nation school for higher education.

Then a couple of months later, Azula's brother Zuko was banished from the Fire Nation.

After publicly speaking out against a general's plans in a war meeting, their father had challenged him to an Agni Kai, but when Zuko refused to fight him, Ozai became furious and perceived his son's actions as disrespectful.

As punishment, Ozai permanently burned Zuko's face, stripped him of his honor, and sent him away to find the Avatar, even though no one had seen the him for one hundred years. Not since the war began.

It was only known that he would be an Airbender.

In hopes of finding this 'last airbender' Ozai plotted to make this prince Zuko's only form of redemption.

If he was to capture the Avatar, then he would be welcomed back home and be re-established as heir to the throne.

Azula, after seeing how her father hadn't shown a drop of mercy against Zuko, well she made sure she would never loose her father's favoritism by becoming 'perfect' to his eyes.

But the insane part was that now with her brother vanished, she had become the legitimate heir to the Fire Nation throne.

One late night, as Ozai slept in his chambers, Azula quietly sneaked her way inside the empty throne room.

The princess climbed up the stairs and sat on the throne for the very first time, making a ring of fire with her own signature blue flames.

Azula felt a surge of empowerment running through her whole body, just like electricity.

Seating here, felt fucking amazing.

Actually, nothing had ever felt as good at this. Only maybe... one of Ty Lee's hugs. Nothing really felt as good as that.

Azula looked down in thought.

''Ty Lee...'' She said almost like a whisper under her breath.

Ever since she had left the capital about six months ago with the circus, thats all Azula could think about. Ty Lee.

She really, really missed her. Even though Azula couldn't deny that at the same time, she had felt insanely hurt by Ty Lee leaving her.

She didn't know her whereabouts and the brunette never bothered to sent her a letter. Not even once.

It was as if Ty Lee had wanted to forget everything about her past life in the capital after she ran away.

Including Azula.

Her heart began hurting thinking about this.

She closed her eyes harshly and swiftly stood up from the throne.
