Cherry's pov

I had never, for once, seen Amanda eat this much. She'd always been one to watch what she ate and basically keep fit but today she was breaking all her feeding rules. She'd already eaten two hamburgers, one being mine, and another hers. Two milkshakes were gone and then a turkey sandwich.

Today, the sun was up, bringing in just a little warmth although every now and then, a cold air would breeze through the open food court, which was why I had on one of April's 'old sweaters'. She'd accidentally forgotten it while packing to return back to Brooklyn for the New Year and since I hadn't done my laundry yet, hers would have to do for now.

"So what did Aiden say after you told him that you were pregnant?" I ask, sipping my can of soda and she sighs, wiping her lips with a napkin.

"After I told him, he got pissed. You know how guys act when things like this happen. They're always shocked, acting like they didn't know it could happen," she replies, rolling her eyes.

"Not that I'm supposed to be asking this but weren't you on the pill?" She looks away, staring across the court to Aiden's table where he's seated with some of his friends, including Xavier.

"I forget to take it one time and the moment something goes wrong, he's out," she says, more to herself than to me.

I had pity for her. The last thing a pregnant lady needed to hear was that the guy responsible had walked out on them. It stung and unlike some adults who would be able to cope in raising a child on their own, people at Amanda's age just couldn't.

"So what now then?" I ask, biting down on a fry and she sighs, her eyes distant.

"Don't hate me, but I was kinda thinking of an abortion." My eyes widen at her words.

"Amanda please tell me you're joking! You're thinking of killing an innocent child for crying out loud." A frown forms on my face and she looks down at her empty pack of fries, her cheeks tinted a bit red in embarrassment.

"I'm sorry. I just don-"

"Look, I've got your back okay? I'm here for you but I want you to understand that going down that route is bad... Very bad. You're talking about taking someone's life here, heck you could even lose yours too," I chide, "My advice? Keep the baby. Aborting that child shouldn't even be an option."

She presses her lips into a thin line and nods before turning to stare at Aiden, who now had a red head seated on his lap. The rest of the guys were all hollering and encouraging the both of them to carry on, well, all except Xavier who's eyes were pinned on our table.

"I can't take this any more," she says and hurriedly gathers her things before storming off. Gathering my things too, I abandon my fries and soda and chase after her, falling into step beside her.

"Where are you going to?" I ask, growing out of breath. "Away from him and everyone," she spits, brushing past the groups of students standing about.

"Do you want to talk-"

"No, I'll be fine. I just need a minute to myself," she replies and picks up pace. Slowing down in my steps, I watch her head out of the food court, her brown short hair bouncing as she ran off.
