•April's pov•
The warm inciting smell of coffee sifted through the air as I poured some out into a cup. Instead of enjoying my lunch break at a diner close by, I had driven back home to have lunch. On entering I'd noticed that Colt's car wasn't parked out front. Maybe he'd gone out for a drive, I thought to myself.
Heating up some doughnuts in the microwave, I allow them to cool and use the time to go through any unread texts.
Tristan.
Tristan and I hadn't spoken since I left. Now that things were going pretty well in my life and I was handling things just fine, I was in no mood whatsoever for drama.
I still couldn't understand why he couldn't move on. Last night he'd tried calling me since I hadn't responded to the last text he sent about a week ago. Unfortunately, he'd called while I was in the shower and Colt picked the call.
Let's just say that things got a little tensed after that. Colt got more reasons to hate Tristan and so did Tristan. While I was in the shower I thought he was simply yelling at someone he knew over his phone but that wasn't the case.
Although I didn't have anything to hide when it came to the contents of my phone, this time around I wasn't pleased that he'd answered the call. Now Tristan would probably have some dumb image stuck in his head since Colt and I were now living together and I was pretty sure that at the moment Colt didn't realise what he'd done and even if he did, he wouldn't care.
So instead of calling him to apologise on Colt's behalf, I woke up feeling a bit care free. I didn't care if Tristan thought we were casually dating or exclusive. After all, Colt and I have actually gone on a couple of dates together, whether we were staying home to watch a movie or going out to get dinner.
Picking one doughnut up, I bite into it and sip gingerly at my cup of coffee. The rest of the texts were from Steph and Cameron who were checking up on me and Cherry asking if she could come visit one day.
I reply all their texts, except that ofTristan's old text before shoving my phone back into my pocket. Halfway through eating the doughnut in my hand, the door swings open and Colt walks in, a thin layer of grime and sweat coating his skin.
"Hey, when did you get here?" he asks and I can't help but notice the slurry tone in his voice.
"Not too long ago. Maybe seven minutes ago." Gesturing to his sweaty body, I smile, "Let me guess you went to lift some weights?"
He smiles, his eyes twinkling and staring down at his arms, he flexes his biceps which were really beginning to look prominent. "Maybe."
Chuckling, I grab a bottle of water and throw it to him and he catches it effortlessly.
Show off. I couldn't even catch anything easily.
"So how's work so far princess?" He asks unscrewing the cap.
"Seems like someone's in a lighter mood."I ignore his question, settling on the more important topic.
