A Pack is Made

This summer has been insane so far.  Last summer my parents promised to have us learn to transform into animals also known as animagus.  They didn't offer it to Ginny and Astoria saying they'd have to wait until next summer.  Ginny went ahead to Egypt with her parents since she wouldn't be learning it yet.  The twins went as well but would come in July to learn it with everyone else who chose to learn it.  However, Reggie wrote them about Harry so they came immediately.  It has been insanity since.  The prank wars that have been going on with my father joining in.  Sirius didn't have a side so he was pranking any and everyone.  And poor Theo.  I don't know how Harry found out Theo was my first kiss but he did and he threw my poor brother under the Knight bus.  It didn't do much to take the heat off of Harry as that was in the long past but Theo did still become my dad's target many a time.

On July 1st it was decided who would become one.  Pansy, Daphne, Theo, Draco, the twins, and Reggie all stepped forward with myself.  So on that first full moon of July we inserted a mandrake leaf to the roof of our mouth to retain there for a month.  My parents taught us a charm to keep it in place so we won't swallow it.  What we didn't know is that Astoria who idolizes her sister was watching and following along.  She didn't hear the charm though to keep it stuck and a week in she almost swallowed it but instead choked on it.  That scared Pansy who no longer wanted to risk it.  Pansy removed the lead and dropped out.  We had fun making the potion with my parents.  It was an adventure to find dew in a place that neither sunlight nor human feet have touched.  After the month was over and the potion made and kept in a dark place it didn't take long to await an electrical storm.  It is summer after all and the humidity tends to trigger storms.  

So in mid August when that storm was rolling in off the water we gathered our potions with my parents.  We went back on property where a muggle wouldn't see.  When the storm struck we pointed our wands to our hearts and repeated Amato, animo, animato, animagus as we'd done every day at sunrise and sundown.  Then we drank our potions.  My parents collected our wands for us as we closed our eyes.  We focused on our second heartbeats and transforming into animals those heartbeats belong to.  As I focused I felt myself transforming.  I was thinkin I'd be a cat like my familiar so I wasn't surprised when I shrunk down and had four paws.

My mom held a mirror and I tilted my head as I took myself in.  My fur was the dark brown of my human hair but I had white starting at my chin that ran down my belly.  A mink.  I'm a mink.  Hm.  They're cute.  I dig.  I thought to myself about the Mink.  It means stability.  I find comfort in stability.  Well, it's not wrong.  I looked and spotted a white swan and I just knew it had to be Daphne.  I snorted when I spotted a white ferret and knew without a doubt it was Draco.  Then I saw a thestral that I somehow knew was Theo.  I wondered where Reggie was.  Before I could wander any longer a raven land next to me and nuzzled it's head against me.  I knew this was Reggie.  Sirius came pounding towards us in his dog form.  Reggie quickly flew up but not along.  He had me in his claws.  Huh.  This is one strong raven and how dare he treat me as prey!

Stop wiggling woman!  I'm saving you from my idiot brother. I heard in my head.

We can communicate? I asked.

It would appear so. Theo's voice resounded in my head.

We're a pack!   Sirius' excited voice filled our heads.

I didn't sign up for this.  Is it too late to undo this? Came Draco's voice.

Much too late little cousin.  Also, I'm not an idiot brother! Sirius whined.

I heard laughter that sounded much like hyenas and spotted them below and realized it had to be Fred and George.  They frolicked with the dog.  Reggie and I spotted a man approaching our property and he began diving towards the ground.
