Abigail looked up to the clouds at the heavy thunder and lightning appearing in the sky.

They will be here soon.

She kept walking towards the border. Looking from far away, she saw sparkle of light, and as she moved closer she heard faint voices of men and quickly hid behind a tree.

The light was too far off she could not make out how many men were there or what they were saying.

She raised her arm and turned her ring "Aliac bumbete atua." She made an incantation to slow down the speed of the wind and quiet everything around her, in other to hear what they were saying.

Everything went quiet, including the voices of the birds and every creature in the woods, leaving only the voices of Gilbert men at the border.

"The festival is on and we are here waiting for what we do not know."  said one of the guards.

"Your job is not to know, your job is to find the witch." another replied.

"What witch? There haven't been any witches in this town for over a century, why now when someone finally kicks Gilbert sons ass.

"How many people have those bastards done the same to, that no one can dare to blink an eyebrow?"

They are waiting for me? Abigail whispered as she leaned her back on the tree.

"How irritating can humans be? Ugh!" she groaned.

" I need to get out of here now, and I don't want to hurt this man. They have done no wrong to me..."

Suddenly, without hearing a sound, Abigail knew was not alone. But she held her ground, not turning back. Waiting for whosoever it was to make the first move.

"Then don't hurt them." The voice was familiar.

Abigail tilts her head in annoyance. Why does he keep following me?

She turned around with her eyebrows raised. "Why do you keep following me? " Her voice was sharp and husky.

"I don't know, how about you tell me! "

"Tell you what? " Now this is getting me more irritated.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?"

He was asking but it sounded commanding, his voice hushed and sharp. "Because one thing has been certain; you are not from around here," he added.

"Well sire, you're right on that front. If you had stopped following me, I would have been out of here. Your town is not that interesting. Believe me."

"Do you even have any idea what you have done?"

"What have I done? "

"What you did earlier today has never been done by any woman in this town before. No woman has ever raised a hand on a man before, not talk of wounded them the way you do. The whole town is looking for you"

Abigail scoffed softly. They don't have to raise their hand on a man to wound them.

She said sarcastic within herself, but the expression was written on her face. "The whole town or just one man? "

"How do you know that? " Tilt his head in surprise.

"I heard his men talking." She continued to hold his gaze without blinking.

Michael looked behind her and looked behind him. Then his eyes scanned the woods, and he saw no one but only a sparkle of light from far away.

How can she — It can't be. That's impossible.

He ignored his thought.  This is not the time for that kind of thought.

"He might be just one man to you,  but that one man can poison the mind of everyone in the town against you, he already started by calling your actions witchcraft."

Abigail huffs, looking away lightly and back to Michael. "I think you have enough witches in your town than looking for just one person."

"What do you mean?" He asked suspiciously as he took a step closer to her.

Abigail took steps backwards and her back hit the tree. "I don't have anything against this man if his sons did not cross my path, I wouldn't have hurt the—"

"He does not know that," He interrupted her. "all he wanted is to burn you on the stake for embarrassing his sons.
Come to my place and stay for the night. I promise you will be safe there. After daybreak his men will leave to report to him, you will have your chance to move on then."

"I'm not worried about his men, nor the man himself. If I want to go, no one can stop me. I'm sorry, but I can't come with you." She concluded.

"Why not? It is dangerous for you to go. More than three men are waiting for you over there. Besides, walking in this woods tonight all night is not a good idea."

"I can't come with you." She insisted.

"Why?"

"Because that was what you said last night, and now you want me to wait for another night???" The word tumbled out of her mouth before she could have the chance to stop it.

Abigail dropped her jaw as she realized what she had just done. A look of surprise formed on Michael's face, tilting his head like he could not hear what she said correctly. "I'm sorry what did you mean last night?"

"Look, I don't want any trouble, and the truth is, am not the one in danger here.

"I need to go and I need to go now." Abigail lifts her head looking at the situation in the sky with her people, then back to Michael.

Michael followed her gaze and back to her. "Who are you running from, what did you do?"

"You asked too many questions."

"Okay..." He raised his hands in a surrender gesture. "Where are you going then, maybe I can help you. "

What is this, is everything repeating itself?  Why is he asking the same question as he did last night? Oh wait, does my reverse spell affect me as well? — No, it can't be.

Micheal held her gaze because he could see she was lost in thought. He snapped his fingers on her face and said. "Are you here?"

"Yes." She said with her eyebrows lifted and met Michael's.

Immediately everything went so quiet and the only thing Abigail could see was Michael's face, the muscle on his jaw, and his breath, like it was the only thing she could hear.

She started feeling drawn into his eyes, like energy was flowing through both of them.

She could feel the earth beneath her vibrating like Michael was drawing back all her energy.

"I can't... come with you sire... am sorry." She said breathlessly like that word took her last breath. Her eyes went blurring and...
...She collapsed forward into his arms.
