"This is the best time for you to turn back Micheal!" I said panting as we ran.
"I think you are probably right... But don't you think it a little too late for that now!" Micheal stopped to catch his breath, leaning on his knees, panting.
I stopped also and rested my hands on my hips, breathing heavily. "We can't keep running like this, we need to come up with a plan," he added.
I knew he was right. We can't keep running, they will soon catch up to us. Gilbert's guards were not what I was afraid of, they were just butterflies, but the greater gods coming after us were something else.
There was location spell on the ring, which was pin-pointing our location to them. I had to come up with a plan and also find a way to stop the location spell on the ring.
"Over there! " I pointed at the big tree in front of us.
We ran towards the tree to take cover and hide behind it. "We need a diversion. " Micheal suggested, panting.
"Diversion?" I scoffed lightly, glancing right and left. "You don't understand what's going on do you?" Placing one hand on my chest to calm my breathing.
"Please humor me. Are there any more problems than what we are running from? "
I stood up straight. "The man that is coming after me is one of the most powerful soldiers in Mystic World, I can't outrun him."
"There has to be a way."
There was a way; one that I did not want to result to. I knew the power in the ring I wielded, but I had not yet mastered it. All these spells I have been using since I got to Salam were activated by the ring, it wasn't I who made it happen.
I don't know if the ring will protect me from its own people, because if the ring was to protect me like it has in the past, it was supposed to block the location spell but it didn't.
Since I had not mastered its power, I was afraid I might use too much or not enough and cause more harm, and deep down, I still cared for Joel, even after all he had done, and I knew all of those soldiers, we trained together since children.
Besides, I wasn't sure how much I could use, because the ring answered only to the true Queen, and I was no queen, nor was I from the bloodline.
"Where could they have gone?" Gilbert's guards said has they stood opposite directions from the tree where Micheal and I hid.
We began to move slowly, brushing our bodies against the tree as Gilbert's guards scanned their surroundings. "I'm sorry Micheal. "
He looked at me confused. "Sorry for what? Am the one that followed you."
"No." My voice sounded hollow because that wasn't what I meant. "I mean am sorry, but I will have to hurt these men." Michael was not okay with the idea, but there was no time to be discussing how badly I was going to hurt them. "You were right, we need a diversion and I know how I can buy us a few minutes."
Few minutes??? What are we going to do in a few minutes? Did you want to hurt them for a few minutes? I think we need the whole day, not a few minutes. But of course, he didn't say that out loud. "What are you going to do? " he asked before his brain exploded from thoughts.
"I need a knife?"
Knife? She's not planning on killing them, does she? "Micheal reached for his side belt and brought out a dagger. "Will this do?" Do whatever you must. I just want this to be over.
"Perfect." A little smile curved out from my lips as I collected the dagger and cut my palm. Michael looked away from the sight of the blood, and then I began to cast some enchantment. "sanguine ad imaginem exaudi desiderium meum me imago ad venue".
