AN- this story is set in 2017, I needed them to be younger for it to work!! So bare with me!
"Are you sure you picked up the correct cupcakes?" Elle's voice squealed across the phone.
"I'm sure" groaned Adrianna to her little sister "They're white with gold sparkles that make me want to throw up"
"Thanks Addie" Elle teased.
"I told you not to call me that" she groaned. Adrianna hated being called Addie with a passion, she couldn't stand the one person who started it anymore, so even the name made her feel sick.
"It's been six years Adrianna, I'm sure you can put your big girl pants on and get over it"
"I'm over it"
"Sure."
"Look I'm not having this conversation today. It's your engagement party and I don't want to be arguing with you" Adrianna said hopeful her sister would drop the topic.
"Fine. But you'll have to talk about it sooner or later" her sister stated. "Now hurry up because you still have to get ready"
"I'm going as fast as I can in 5 inch heels holding a box of cupcakes Elle" she groaned.
"That's what you get for going straight after work" Elle laughed. "Now shut up and get here. Mum and dad are driving me crazy. I should never have let them throw the party at their house." Elle whined.
"Goodbye Elle"
"Goodbye Addie" she trilled
"I told you no-"
She was cut off by the hanging up sound on her phone, signalling Elle had planned to annoy her again, and won.
Adrianna continued down the street towards the house she had so desperately left 6 years ago. The reason Adrianna hated this house wasn't that it had awkward shaped rooms, it wasn't because the ceiling was so low in the top floor that she had hit her head off it so hard she got a concussion when she was 14, it wasn't even that her windows were so large that privacy was not an option. It was the fact that this beautiful little white townhouse, was joined onto another house that was practically identical. Now this wasn't because Adrianna hated having neighbours it was because that's where Joseph lived growing up.
Adrianna and Joseph were both born on the same day, in the same hospital. 15th of May 1993, both at 8:34pm. It just so happened the hospital had put his mother, and Adrianna's right next to each other in the ward, them instantly fascinated by how their children were born at the exact same time. Their faces were an absolute picture the moment they found out that Adrianna's mother, Tara, had just bought the house next door to Joseph's mother. From that day forth the pair were inseparable best friends, and so Adrianna and Joseph grew up to follow in their footsteps to be best friends too.
From dentist appointments, to dance recitals and school shows, they went everywhere together. Their parents once had to have a long conversation about why they couldn't go to the bathroom together. They were nicknamed tweedle dum and tweedle Dee by everyone around them, this was started by Joe and Adrianna's dads, who thought it was hilarious.
Joe and Adrianna were not pleased with this nickname but no amount of complaining ever changed it.When Adrianna and Joe were 12 they made a pact that if they were both 28 and single they'd marry each other. Both of them thinking this was the ultimate plan because they were best friends and who doesn't want to live with their best friend? Then at 15 Adrianna got her first real boyfriend, Luke McKenzie who was an entire year older, Joe hated him from the moment he met him. Joe hated his stupid blonde hair and his disregard for any real music.
