Shopping, nails, hair and a pamper later, elle and Adrianna were stood in Joe's room. The entire day had been filled of Elle teasing Addie, Addie throwing things at Elle to get her to stop and Addie avoiding any conversation that surrounded the topic of Caleb, a topic she wanted to avoid like the plague.
Elle had understood why she simply wanted to leave it alone, but she also agreed with Joe that she would need to wallow at some point, she'd have to cry or let it out and she would rather she was there to help her through it.
However Addie remained a poker face the whole day about the subject, not letting a single crack appear on the wall she had built around the situation. The last thing she wanted to do today was cry, she cried last night and that felt like enough for her. Her emotions weren't something she allowed herself to indulge in, she often kept them hidden way beyond the surface, somewhere no one would find them, not even her at times. Growing up Joe was the only one allowed beneath the surface because she knew he would comfort her yet not pity her, she never was a fan of pity. Always found it to be almost degrading, like someone was looking down on you thinking of how pathetic you were.
Then she left for Paris and was once again alone with her feelings, alone inside the guarded walls of her mind. The best way to get through something in her opinion was to forget if, or at least try. When she met Caleb he was closed off emotionally and for some reason she admired that. She was thankful to have a relationship that felt grown up, that felt stable. What no one realised was the cracks, partially because she never let anyone, but the real reason being how he practically groomed her into the person she was today. A ruthless bitch as many of his friends would say, she didn't care about feelings and was always trying to be the best, not her choice, it was expected of her and as a young impressionable girl with an older man, she felt like she had to be mature.
All this and more is why Elle was so pushy about making Addie find herself. She wanted her to know it's okay to want things, and enjoy things and be emotional. She knew one shopping trip and another tight dress wouldn't solve anything right away but it was a start.
"I mean it wholeheartedly- you look hot" Elle beamed clapping her hands.
Adrianna stood there, in what felt like the tightest best dress known to mankind. It was a black, skin tight, long sleeved maxi dress that fitted her perfectly. This was pretty out of character for Addie, she wasn't one to show off her body often unless Elle was who chose the dress. She stood looking at her reflection with her arms crossed over her chest self conscious of how the dress really clung to her body.
"I feel naked" Addie groaned.
"Adrianna Bennett, that dress hits your ankles what do you mean naked, you're practically a nun" she scolded. Adrianna gave Elle a scowling look and snapped back.
"Last time I checked Nuns don't go commando because they're dress is too tight for underwear"
"You wouldn't know" elle shrugged. "Now come on Joe will be home soon and your hair is still in rollers- and no matter how pretty you are, it's not a vibe" she chuckled.
Adrianna rolled her eyes and sat down in Joe's desk chair as Elle started to unroll her hair and style it. She sat there reminiscing on all the times her and Elle would do this together growing up, pamper days were Elle's speciality. Her mind also couldn't help with wander to her encounter with Joe earlier, thinking of what if Elle hadn't walked in at that moment, would they have kissed? She assured herself it was a heat of the moment and he wasn't the one leaning in, it was her- she wanted it- not him.
"Daydreaming about Joe are we?" Elle teased. Addies head immediately snapped round to face Elle, a look of shock on her face.
"N-no" she defended.
