Adrianna was abruptly awoken from her sleep by a door slamming, she was almost certain she felt the house shake, this was the usual signal Caleb was finally home. She picked up her phone checking the time, mentally groaning at it being 3am and that he had only just gotten home. This wasn't anything new to her but that didn't mean that she wasn't infuriated every time. The bedroom door opened and Caleb's tall frame filled the door, she groggily mumbled a hello."Oh Adrianna I didn't mean to wake you. Sorry the meeting was incredibly long, some large company is being sued it's a mess" he grumbled as he hung his clothes into the closet.
"It's fine" she sighed rubbing her eyes.
"How was the rest of dinner? Hope you didn't overstay your welcome." He warned. Adrianna rolled her eyes at his typical degrading comment. Sometimes she felt like he tried to play a father role, always telling her what to do.
"No we finished dinner and then I came home."
"Good. Don't need you running off with some mediocre actor do we" he chuckled which earned him a disapproving look from Adrianna. "Relax, I'm joking. You're so sensitive sometimes" he groaned getting into bed beside her. He placed a kiss on her forehead and lay on his side away from her to sleep.
Due to the rude awakening, Adrianna was now wide awake while Caleb snored his head off, once again this wasn't a new scenario to Adrianna. She followed the same routine of grabbing her laptop and heading down to the kitchen table to do some late night emails and organisation for work. She had the day off tomorrow and was planning on spending the day with Elle as she usually did on her days off, so she wanted to make sure work was caught up on before ignoring her phone all day. As she slowly scrolled through countless emails about work events and new books she found herself thinking about the events at Joseph's house and the walk home.
Earlier
"I should go" Adrianna mumbled after Joe let go of her hands."Oh I'll walk you" he smiled offering her a hand up from the floor. She gladly took his hand and pulled herself up.
"You don't need to do that, my house is right round the corner from here honestly" she blushed. The events from a minute ago replaying in her head, her stomach still knotting at the feeling of his breath hitting her face.
"Adriana Bennett it is London, it's 11pm and men are disgusting." He stated. "I'm walking you home." Adrianna simply nodded knowing she wasn't going to win this argument as Joe grabbed their coats and her bag handing it to her. She quickly opened the bag pulling out a pair of folded flat shoes, Joe's eyes filled with curiosity at the sight before him.
"What?" She giggled. Joe's face lit up, her laughter always taking the form of music to his ears.
"Your shoes, in your bag?" He questioned.
"Oh yeah they're for nights like this where I'm entirely sick of wearing heels. They're barbaric." She groaned. "Are you alright if I leave these here?" She asked holding up her heels in one hand. Joe nodded aggressively, hopeful that she was leaving them here in the intention of seeing him again.
"Thank you Joe" she smiled. "I'll get them another day" she added. Joe quickly checked his keys, phone and wallet were in his coat and nodded in satisfaction when he discovered for once, he had everything.
"Ready to go Addie?" He asked. She quickly nodded and he lead the way out of the apartment. Adrianna stopped to pet the golden ball of fur that was still comfortable on the couch. Joe watched her give the dog endless love and affection, a smile filling his face. "Adrianna you can see her again I promise" he chuckled. Adrianna fake pouted to him and sighed.
