Standing hand in hand at Addie's parents front door, her and Joe were both beyond nervous. Strange right? They'd been here together multiple times for years, however the main difference this time is this will be the first time they walk through this door as a couple. As much as they planned to keep the circumstance quiet for now, they themselves knew this changed things even just for themselves. The door swung open unexpectedly, breaking the twos intertwined hands apart to reveal Elle standing in the doorway, a shocked expression apparent on her face.
"I saw nothing" Elle winked stepping to the side to allow them in.
"Too right you didn't" Addie warned walking past her. Joe stood in front of Elle with a smile on his face before pulling her into a hug.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"Better" she smiled weakly as she pulled away. "Would be even better if I knew all of the details about you two" she teased.
"Unfortunately I'm under a very serious NDA contract." He joked holding his hands up.
"I'll get it out of one of you sooner or later" she smiled innocently looking between the pair before making her way through to the kitchen.
"Mum, dad, They're here" she chimed. Addie and Joe shared a 'here we go' glance and followed Elle into the kitchen to greet addies parents.
First Addie rushed over giving both her parents a hug, them exchanging a bunch of 'miss you's' and small chit chat about how they were feeling. Then Joe slipped over to them handing Addie's mother the flowers he had bought her on his morning walk with Lola. She thanked him like he'd just bought her diamonds, giving him a kiss on the cheek before squeezing his face on her hands mumbling how cute he had gotten. Then followed the typical formal handshake from her father, it was always quite standard, he was a formal man created of business gestures and attitude. Addie's mum rushed her to help with plating up lunch while Joe sat at the table beside her father, both of them falling into a conversation about the latest news events, both political and entertainment related. This kind of conversation was at hand over the years they'd known each other, Addie would be helping her mother cook and Joe would be sat with her father talking about everything they possibly could fit in. Her father always found it uplifting that Joe had an interest in current political affairs, said it gave him hope for the younger generation to still care about the world as it is.
"So how is your mother Joseph? Haven't seen her for a while" Addie's mother asked. Joes head politely turned to her to answer her question.
"Oh she and my father are currently away touring Europe at the moment." He explained. "I think they're due back in 2 weeks. It was to celebrate their anniversary I think"
"Oh that sounds wonderful doesn't it John?" She chimed. "We haven't taken a holiday in so long" she sighed shaking her head.
"Well that's because the last time we went on holiday you swore it was the last, something about them losing your luggage at the airport" John replied as he read his paper.
"Well I think we should try again" she smiled. "Maybe Venice!" She chimed.
"Too touristy" John bluntly replied. "I think somewhere in France? Cannes perhaps?" He suggested.
"Cannes sounds wonderful! We haven't been since our honeymoon" she beamed.
"Well I just love France" Elle trailed as she set the table the best she could with one arm still remaining in a cast.
"No" her dad replied.
"What?" She quizzed innocently.
"You're not coming with us." He stated.
