Tay's POV
"Hey. I'm up front. Open the door." I say to Han over the phone. I walk up to the door and hear the muffled voices of Han and Trev. Han finally opens the door.
"What's happened between you and Trevor? He says he doesn't want to see you."
"Trev's just being a twat. He jumped to conclusions without hearing his best friend's point and now he's too big of an ass to apologize!" I yell up the stairs.
"I saw what I saw! I spoke to her!" Trev shouts back. I hear him stomping down the steps.
"Bullshit. Because I just came from church with her and the Reillys." I shout bumping chests with Trevor. We stand off like two rams ready to headbutt each other. Trevor's nostrils flair as we clash. Hannah tries to step between us but we don't give her a chance.
"Guys! Come on! Will someone tell me what the hell is happening?!" Hannah yells. Hannah attempts to tug Trevor into the living room. He doesn't budge so I give him a good shove.
'Serves you right, dickhead.'
Trevor stumbles and uses Hannah to right himself. He allows Hannah to tug him onto the couch in the living room while I arrogantly smirk and sit in the opposite couch.
"Trev, start. You be quiet, Tay." Han threatens. Trev smirks while I lift my hands up innocently.
"This morning, Ren ran out of hair like a bat outta Hell. When I asked her what was wrong, she wouldn't say. She was crying and distraught. What am I supposed to think?" Trev shouts. Spittle flies out his mouth landing on the coffee table separating us.
"What did you think?" Han asks calmly. I raise my hand.
"Ooh! Pick me!" I say squirming in my seat.
"I think I know what he thought." Han says in disbelief.
"If you're thinking rape then you're right. One of my best friends accused me of rape." I answer. Han scoots away from Trev and shakes her head.
"I never said rape. It just seemed like something awful happened." Trev explains. Han moves further away from him.
"What actually happened?" Han asks me.
'I've never seen Han look so disappointed and angry at the same time. I kind of feel bad for Trev. Just a smidge tho. He's still a dumbass.'
"It's a long story. Ren and I weren't really together before. I was just a cover for when Dean hits on her. When we had sex, we realized we actually like each other. She was crying because she thought her feelings were one sided." I explained smirking the whole time. Both of their jaws hang open. Trev is the first to react.
"That makes sense. No offense but you're not really girlfriend material. Sorry about today, mate. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. Forgive me?"
"Sure. After I punch get one punch in." I wink at Trev.
'This is why guy friends are the best. We can settle shit quick.'
"Are you sure feelings just kick in?" Han asks.
"Yea. At least on my side. Why?"
"That night after you guys first got together, Ren warned me. She told me not to kiss you anymore."
"What?! How come you never told me?"
"Because it made sense at the time. I wouldn't want some friend kissing Trev if we're in a relationship."
"Still, you're my best friend. That's how we say hello; it has nothing to do with her."
'I have no clue what to do with this information.'
"Welp. Laters. I'm going to see Perry and let him out of doggy jail. I miss my little prince and people are starting to irritate me. Rain check on that power punch, Trev. Laters." I exit the house and fly towards the kennel where Perry greets me jubiously.
"I missed you too, mutt. Let's go to the park."
Ren's POV
"Hey Mama."
"What's up sugar? Why do you sound so down?"
"I messed up big time. You're gonna hate me."
"I could never hate you baby. You're starting to scare me. Tell me what has happened so I can help."
"I made a childish bet with Anne about making a player fall in love with me. I bet my car and Anne accepted. But I didn't figure on genuine feelings to rise between us."
"Oh sugar. You can't play with people's lives like that. Shane on you and Anne. Only fools play with love darling."
"No one's in love, Ma. It's just.."
"Just what?"
"Lust not love, Ma."
"Keep telling yourself that. Love happens. It's not convenient, easy, or what we expect. You think I knew I'd fall in love at sixteen and start having kids? No but I wouldn't trade y'all for all the money in the world. Trust your feelings. How does she feel?"
"I don't know."
"Find out. We'll be there soon. Hang in there, baby girl. Love you."
"Love you too, Mama."
'Ma always makes things sound easy. I could barely get Tay to admit to liking me. How am I supposed to find out how she feels about me? It's too early for love. It's just lust.'
Because of my conversation with Ma and my musings, I've lost track of time. I rush out the door and over to Han's. Han and Trev are up front.
"Hey guys. Tay still here?" I ask out of breath.
"Nope. She left. She'll be in class tomorrow though." Trev says. Han remains silent for some reason.
"Alright then. I guess I'll work on it by myself. See ya later."
'Was it just me or was the air tense? I wonder if I have anything to do with it. Han has always been cool to me. I would hate to lose her as a friend.'
"Wait. Dinner over here tomorrow?" Han says behind a brittle smile.
"Sure. Later."
'I feel like I just accepted a date with the Devil.'
