Harry's voice.
She didn't want him to find out their friendship this way. She stared at him, wide eyed and lips slightly parted in a shape of an O. At last, a few sounds escaped her mouth, "I can explain."
"Uh...Isn't he a Slytherin? You know how everyone in Gryffindor feels about them, Lily." Harry glanced with uncertainty at Theodore, the boy avoiding his eyes as he fidgeted with his hands.
Seeing her friend's uneasiness at the not so subtle insinuation, Lilith rose from her seat and stood between her brother and her friend. "That's not fair, Harry! Slytherin is not an evil house and, besides, Theodore is my friend!"
She noticed his sharp, hazel eyes glance at her with surprise and a hint of contentment. Meanwhile, Harry looked at her in bewilderment.
The little witch sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Listen, Harry... do you think wizards and witches with muggle parents should be considered dirty and inferior just because of their blood statuses?"
His answer was immediate. "Of course not!"
"Then, do you think everyone here should be judged based on their houses? Is it fair?"
"No, you're right..." Harry looked at Theodore, who had been silent the whole time and was staring dejectedly at the floor. The dark-haired boy groaned, realising his mistake too late. "I'm sorry..."
Nott nodded his head, accepting the apology, but he didn't say anything else. Lilith understood why. Theodore was timid, a person who normally kept to himself, and for a complete stranger to throw accusations at him, it'd be expected that he wouldn't speak right away. It took her a month to get him to willingly talk to her, after all.
"Harry, Theo is the one behind all the letters that I wouldn't show you," Lilith confessed. "I was afraid of how you guys would react, specially Ron. You know how short-tempered he can be." Her brother nodded his head, but she could see how difficult it was for him to wrap his head around the whole ordeal. "I planned to tell you all along, but I didn't find the right timing to do so... I'm sorry for keeping it a secret from you. "
"I forgive you, Lily," Harry said, gazing into her eyes, which were shining with sincerity. "Just promise me no more secrets. I'm your brother, you can trust me. You should trust me." He gave her a saddened smile.
Sighing, Lilith agreed and grabbed his hand, holding it tightly within her own. "You know that I trust you with everything, Harry. But this secret wasn't only mine, it was also Theodore's."
