Lilith's eyes widened at the sight before her. The man— whose height reminded her of a tree— was looking down at her with his little black eyes and, to her surprise, they contained happiness and concern, as if he actually cared for her and knew her.
"I'm sorry, but do I know you?" she asked, curiously examining the half-giant in front of her.
"No, yeh don'. But I know yeh." His response made her even more confused.
Meanwhile Harry, who had been watching intently the small interaction between Hagrid and his twin sister, decided it was time for him to also introduce himself to the half-giant. "Hello, I'm Harry Potter. Nice to meet you, sir."
Hagrid turned to face the boy and sent him a radiant smile. "I know yeh too, Harry. No need ter be so polite," he said, sniffling a little as his eyes glistened. "I met yeh two when yeh were just babes. 'Course, yeh don' remember me, but I do."
"Really? Is it true, uncle?" Lilith asked her godfather, arching a ginger-coloured brow that was slightly darker than her hair.
Remus nodded his head as he explained, "Hagrid knew your parents and he met you two after you were born, hence why you don't remember."
"But I remember yeh," Hagrid reminded them, giving the children a watery smile. "It's so nice ter see yeh, yeh know, healthy an' happy."
The twins returned the smile, the anxiety they were feeling long gone. Meeting the half-giant was turning out to be better that they had expected —Lilith noted —her gaze not leaving Hagrid as he chatted happily with her godfather. His boisterous laughter caught the attention of the patrons of the pub, their eyes shining with amusement. Then, they moved to her and Harry, quickly turning curious.
At once, the witches and wizards began to whisper to each other as they looked the twins up and down and, soon enough, they came to realise who they were.
"Could it be...?"
"The boy and the girl..."
"Potter..."
Lilith and Harry exchanged uneasy expressions and approached their uncle's tall figure, not enjoying the unwanted attention they were getting. "Uncle," she called out to him, tugging the sleeve of his cardigan. Remus abruptly stopped his conversation with Hagrid and looked down at his niece, eyes alert. "What is it, love?"
"Can we leave?" her brother asked, giving him a pointed look that Remus recognised very well. "Please," he added when he began to notice the customers coming their way.
