When Snape finally dismissed the class, Lilith packed her things in silence. Theodore glanced at her on his way out, but she couldn't risk saying anything to him here. Instead, she gave him the faintest nod before turning her attention back to Hermione, Harry and Ron, who were waiting by the door.
"Are you okay?" her brother asked her, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
The ginger nodded, even though she was feeling far from it. Harry knew that, but he couldn't stay much longer since he had Quidditch practice in a few minutes. "I'll meet you at the common room later, just —just promise me you'll be alright."
"I promise," she said, giving him a soft smile. He gave her one last comforting squeeze, before hurriedly grabbing his things and and leaving.
Hermione, still frowning with concern, walked alongside Lilith as they began to head back toward the Gryffindor Tower. Ron followed, grumbling about Snape's unfairness and how they should be used to his cruelty by now.
"That was completely out of order," he muttered, adjusting his bag over his shoulder. "Taking points for whispering. And from Gryffindor, of course. If it had been one of his Slytherins, he would've let them off with a warning."
Hermione, ever the rule-follower, didn't seem to hear him this time. Her focus remained on Lilith. "We need to talk," she said softly but firmly, her voice cutting through Ron's complaints.
The small girl sighed. She knew this moment was inevitable. As they reached the stairs leading to the common room, she hesitated before speaking. "Yeah... I think we do."
Hermione exchanged a quick look with Ron, who now seemed more alert. "What's going on?" he asked, his brow furrowing in confusion.
Taking a deep breath, Lilith stopped walking and turned to face them, her heart pounding. She glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby. The corridor was empty, and the only sound was the distant echo of footsteps on the stone floors.
"I've been keeping something from you two," she began, her voice low but steady. "Something I should have told you sooner."
Hermione folded her arms, clearly waiting for an explanation. Ron's confusion deepened, but he kept quiet, sensing the seriousness of the moment.
"First of all," Lilith continued, "about Theodore Nott... Theo and I have been friends for a while now, but we've had to keep it secret because, well, he's a Slytherin. And with the way things are between Gryffindor and Slytherin, especially with people like Malfoy hanging around, it's too dangerous for him if people find out."
