Part 3, thank you for the feedback already, I will try put out a couple of chapters a day.
Pulling up the training ground I couldn't be more nervous right now, what could Gareth possibly want to speak to me about. Did I have a bad last game? Have I been slacking at training?
I walk up to the meeting and give a nervous knock on the manager's door.
"Come in" I hear from inside. I nervously open the door and step in.
"Oh hi Y/N take a seat, I just need a quick chat with you" Gareth states.
I nervously take a seat opposite him at the desk, "what's up coach have I done something wrong?" I ask.
"Not at all Y/N, not at all. I've actually had some news that I would like to run past you if that's okay. I need you to be as honest as possible with me and depending on your answer can discuss what happens moving forward" Gareth states.
In my head 'oh no what could this possibly be'.
"Yes of course, what is it coach?" I ask nervously.
"I've had an email from Sarina"...
Skip to later in the day
OH MY GOD
I need to call Georgia right now, this can't be happening, I don't know what to do. I pull out my phone and pull up Georgia's contact. I press dial so fast.
"Pick up Georgia for God's sake!"
"Y/N hey how you doing?" Georgia asks calmly.
"G OMG you are not going to believe what just happened to me, can you come over I wanna talk to you" I scream down the phone.
"God yeah okay i'll be there in about 10 mins, see you soon Y/N" she tells me.
"Okay I'll see you soon" I reply too excited to say anything else.
10 mins later
There is a knock at the door, I charger over to answer it.
"Georgia omg come in I need to talk to right now" I shout
"Woah Y/N calm down whats going on is everything okay?" she asks, clearly worried.
"Oh it is more than okay, so Gareth asked me into a meeting earlier, guess what it was about?"
"Oh Y/N please tell me you're not getting transferred" Georgia begs.
"God no G its so much better than that..."
"OMG Y/N just tell me what is going on please you're scaring me!" Georgia cries.
"Sarina got in touch I've been called up for the England squad for the 2022 Euros!!" I scream.
"OH MY GOD Y/N this is amazing, our first call up together, this is going to be the best summer ever!!" She screams at me.
She runs over to hug me and we jump around the living room not being able to contain our excitement.
The next day at training
Gareth calls the whole team to the meeting room.
"Hi girls take a seat, I just need to speak to you about international duty over the summer after our last game on Sunday", I sneak a smile over to Georgia, I haven't told anyone else I got the call up yet, I can't wait to see their reactions.
"Okay as a lot of this squad is English we will lose a few of you for the summer, so far this list stands at Lucy, Keira, Georgia, Alex, Lauren, Demi, Chloe, Ellen, Ellie, Jill and finally..." I see everyone look around at who else it could be.
"Congratulations to Y/N for her first national call up!" Gareth cheers.
Lucy, Keira and Lauren all run up to hug and congratulate you.
"Y/N oh my god when did you find out? Why didn't you tell us?" Keira asks, we have been getting close recently (as friends don't worry i'm not here to steal Lucy's girl).
"Sorry Ke I wanted to keep it a surprise, your reactions were definitely worth it, plus I only found out myself yesterday, G is the only one I told" I tell her.
"We're so happy for you Y/nickname, this is going to be such a fun trip I can't wait" Lucy exclaims, engulfing you in another hug.
"Thanks Luce me neither" I respond with a massive grin on my face.
After the meeting we all head out to training for our final session before the last game of the season on Sunday. We were working in groups of 4 on quick possession and defence games, working on closing down in groups in order to regain possession more effectively. We finished with a finishing drill, Ellie was in goal of course, she has really improved this season, I hope she gets the recognition in the England camp.
I head home and prep some dinner before a nap as today has really taken it out of me, some rest is well needed before this game on Sunday.
A bit of a slow chapter, I'm just trying to get some details in and beef up the story a little, i dont want it to be over to fast.
The next chapter will be the final game and then heading to the England camp, I will try get it out as soon as possible.
