A/N Longer chapters! It's about time! Thank you so much for coming to book two! Enjoy!
I'm currently watching a stupid kids movie with my friends and cringing so hard, at the movie, and my abnormally hype sounding self.
Jason didn't know what to do.
He thought he looked good...
But what if he didn't?
Elliana's party had started almost an hour ago. An hour. He couldn't very well show up in what he normally would have worn. Well, he did have a nice pair of jeans and a dress shirt, provided by trickery. Emily did seem to be good at trickery. She managed to trick Elliana into giving him enough money to buy himself something nice, without letting Elliana know. Emily's attitude and Elliana's seemed so different, Jason sometimes wondered how they were best friends. It had felt like betrayal, walking into a mall with money and not buying things he and his friends needed. But they were provided for. After meeting her mother, it was clear where Elliana had gotten her compassion from. They were both such nice people, and they always gave him, his sister, and his friends enough to live comfortably with. Heck, they'd even offered to buy them a house! It was Rebecca who told them that they loved living at the pond of flowers, and didn't want to leave. Jason couldn't argue, and neither could his friends Ian and Alex.
Jason inspected himself one last time. His green-tinted skin looked... well green. He couldn't really change that. His mud-like hair had taken more of a dark brown color, which he liked, considering that having hair that looked like the bottom of the ocean wasn't helping his mutilated appearance. It was also styled. Not a lot, but a little brushing went a long way for him. He smiled at his not disgusting appearance.
He stopped smiling so fast his jaw popped. His teeth. They were so horrible. They were sharp, and abnormal. Most people didn't believe genetic mutations were possible. Well, Jason knew from experience that sadly, they were wrong.
When he was seven, Jason and his sister Rebecca were sent to an orphanage. There they met a boy around Rebecca's age named Ian. A few months later, a new orphan arrived, named Alex. The four of them became best friends. Everything was good, until they realized the treatment the other kids at the orphanage had. They were ignored ninety-percent of the time. They were barely given enough to eat, and were punished for the smallest things. Meanwhile, the four of them were treated like royalty. Two years later, they were asked their favorite sea animals. Next, sent into a lab, one by one. Jason couldn't remember exactly what happened. All he knew was that he came out as a mutated alligator. A beast.
Elliana was the first person to help him realize that maybe he wasn't one.
So for her birthday, he would go on smiling. For her, he would go on smiling. And suddenly, it didn't seem too hard to smile. Smiling was natural whenever he thought of Elliana.
He was late to the party, and he knew it. He must have misheard, but the garden was filled with chatter. So Jason just searched for the entrance. Rebecca, Alex and Ian had arrived earlier. So at the arch of roses that allowed him to enter the garden where Elliana's party would take place without stepping on any beautiful peonies, he only saw a young boy who he faintly recognised.
"Bowser!" The boy yelled when he noticed Jason.
Then he remembered. This was Stacy's little brother. After some small talk, the little boy-whom Jason remembered was named Justin-led Jason toward the benches in a more secluded part.
Emily and Stacy were there. They were dressed nicely. Emily was wearing a pair of white jeans with a black tank top and a jacket. Her black hair was done up in a ponytail, but nothing too fancy. He'd learned that that fancy simply wasn't Emily's style. Stacy was wearing a gray skirt and a white, long-sleeved button-down shirt. But Jason barely noticed either of them. The second he saw Elliana, he didn't know if he would ever be able to look away.
