Six, Powers

Jason walked back to the pond of flowers in a huff. Ryan had flipped him off? Seriously? That had been a bit much, hadn't it?

Oddly though, he seemed to appreciate it. He hadn't liked Ryan, but now that he thought about it, she hadn't done anything wrong. He'd simply not liked her brother. Cole was a jerk, through and through. But maybe Ryan wasn't so bad...

No! What was he thinking? Again, she'd flipped him off. And yet... it had been sort of cool. His mind continued to go in circles like that until Jason reached the pond of flowers. Alex and Ian were back, and they were laughing about something with Rebacca.

"What's so funny?" Jason asked.

"You're so head over heels for Elliana, it's not even funny." Alex said, still laughing.

"Then why are you laughing?" Jason asked.

Alex turned silent, and Rebecca began laughing harder, which just made Alex laugh again.

"You guys are ridiculous." Jason said.

"At least Ian's trying to contain his laughter." Rebecca said.

At that, Ian, who'd been politely covering his mouth, began laughing even harder than Rebecca and Alex. The other two joined in, and Jason rolled his eyes. Jason began to look away, when he heard his sister's voice.

"Oh come on, does he have to be such a square?"

Jason turned around. "What?" He asked.

"No one said anything." Alex said in confusion.

"No, Rebecca called me a square."

"No she didn't."

"Yeah, she did. I could have sworn I heard it."

Rebecca and Ian eyed each other. "What?" Alex asked.

"We have to tell you guys something." Ian said.

"What? Ian, what's going on?" Alex asked.

"Something happened a while back that we thought we should keep secret. But, since it's happening to you too..." Rebecca trailed off.

"What is it?" Jason and Alex asked, almost in unison.

Rebecca saighed. "Get ready for a long story." She said.

"I don't want a long story, I just want an explanation." Jason pointed out.

"In that case... I'll just sum it up. We can mind read." Ian said.

"Forget everything he just said. Explain. A long, in-depth explanation. Now, please." Alex said.

"So, I discovered it when I was your age, Jason. I was giving Ian dating advice, and-"

"No, uh, it was..." Ian trailed off, looking sheepishly at Alex.

Ian and Alex had been dating for around six months, but it was no secret that they had been in love with each other for a lot longer than that. Jason had found it entertaining, how they remained close friends while failing to admit their enormous crushes on each other. So it wasn't a surprise that Ian had been asking Rebecca for dating advice, because Alex had been doing the same thing with Jason for years.

"Anyway, he'd never specifically said that he was talking about Alex. But then I heard him saying how much he loved Alex." Rebecca said.

Alex and Ian both blushed.

"Anyway, so I was like, 'well that was straightforward' and he was confused. For the next month, I would constantly hear him say things that he didn't say. I told Ian about it, and he joked that maybe it was telepathy."
