Unfortunately, Elliana wouldn't be there for long. Her annoying alarm bothered her much too soon after she'd drifted into subconscious, dreaming about Harry Potter and abnormally large wolves, for some stupid reason. Maybe she was kind of happy to have woken up. Dreaming of being chased through forests and rivers by freakily enormous wolves wasn't how she wanted to spend her morning. So, she reluctantly climbed out of her bed and got dressed and brushed her hair. She sprayed on some extra perfume to counter the scent of the dirty clothes she'd been wearing since yesterday.

Elliana went downstairs, expecting to greet her mother, then remembering she was home alone. She made herself some cereal and left for school.

It was only then she realized she'd overslept by about an hour.

She usually walked with Emily and Stacy, but she'd been too late. She rushed towards her high school, hoping she got there on time. She entered the doors just as the first bell rang.

She couldn't exactly spend all that much time at her locker, so she shoved her bag in and sped towards her first class. The class bored her to death. What did she expect? At least it was Friday.

She listened to the lesson intently, though, and took many notes. She couldn't risk failing any of her classes.

When the lesson was finally over, she met her friends by her locker.

"Where were you this morning?" Stacy asked.

"I overslept. Sorry." Elliana mumbled.

"Anyways, I have gossip!" Emily said.

Elliana laughed. "At lunch, Emily!" She said.

"Yeah yeah, I know." Emily said. "Buzzkill."

Elliana rolled her eyes. She left, making her way towards her next class. It was still near the start of the year, but she'd memorized all her classes. Suddenly, she bumped into someone.

"Hey." Elliana said.

"Oh, hey Elliana." Cole said.

This was her friend. She'd met him as a first grader, when he'd been the bully of second grade. She'd hated him. But he soon became nicer, and Elliana grew a respect for him. I'm high school, when it was acceptable to speak to someone in another grade then her, Elliana became close friends with Cole. Emily and Stacy had been friends with Cole's twin sister for a long time, too. Although Elliana didn't exactly like Ryan all that much.

"How's it going?" Cole asked.

"Fine. Having a few life problems." Elliana said.

"I've got a pretty big life problem too." Cole said.

"Oh really? Enlighten me."

"I can't decide what the best flavor of ice cream is."

Elliana burst out laughing.

"What? It's an honest question." Cole said.

"Well then, my honest answer is caramel." Elliana said, holding in laughter.

"Oh come on, you can do better than that."

"Fine. Birthday cake."

"You've got to be kidding me. Two words. Cookies. And. Cream."

"That's three words."

"Well, and doesn't count!"

"That makes absolutely no sense."

"You know what makes no sense? Liking the most boring flavors on the planet!"

"The most boring flavor is hands-down vanilla."
