Jason awoke on the street of a neighborhood he didn't recognize. At least, not one that Jason recognised.
"It's the house of that boy. Elliana's probably doing all the things she did with you with him now." The dormant monster rasped.
Jason shoved the monster farther down, along with the thoughts he implied. Until he realized, that wasn't the monster. The monster would have taken over instead of having a conversation with Jason.
"You're very right." The not-really-monster said.
Jason wanted to kick himself for being tricked by his own brain. His own fear. Stupid. He was so stupid. And weak, too. He should have been able to fight this new monster that had arisen inside of him, instead of letting it attack Elliana. He had to admit though, she'd beaten the monster, in a very smart way. But something about the boy he'd seen her with was nagging at him. So he got up, and reluctantly knocked on the door that he'd seen Elliana and the boy go in through.
When the door opened, he saw a girl that looked like the boy he'd seen Elliana with. Same dark skin, same darker hair, same grayish eye color.
"Oh, hello" She said, then took a double take at his appearance. "Are you gonna vomit?"
"What?" Jason asked.
"Sorry, it's just... you look green.
Suddenly, Jason noticed movement behind the girl. He saw the boy, shoving the girl who answered the door, who Jason figured was his sister, and running away. Through the open door, Jason saw as the boy held a butter knife in his direction, while the boy still kept his distance from the door.
"Ryan! Stay away from him! That's the freak who attacked us!" The boy said.
"That's him?!" The girl-Ryan yelled, scrambling away from the door.
"STAY AWAY FROM US!" The boy yelled, approaching the door with his butter knife.
Suddenly, Jason noticed a figure emerging from the other side of a couch near the door. His breath hitched. The figure was an out of breath, puffy-eyed Elliana. She looked at him, her expression shifting to fear for half a second, then determination. She walked up to the boy.
"Oh, shut up, Cole." She said to him, knocking the knife out of his hands.
She then walked towards Jason and tightly put her arms around him, wrapping him up into a hug.
"Jason? Are you okay?" Elliana asked, still hugging him.
The boy quickly pried Elliana off of him and clutched her by the shoulders.
"Elliana! What the hell are you doing? That's the guy who attacked us!" The boy yelled. Jason now knew his name was Cole, but for some reason, his brain refused to acknowledge him as more than the boy.
Elliana looked straight into Jason's eyes. "No it's not." She said. "That's my friend."
Jason's eyes began to well, for two reasons. She still thought of him as a friend. She still cared about him. And yet, why hadn't she said more than friend? He watched as Ryan shoved the boy away.
"No he's not." Ryan said. "Elliana, he attacked you."
"Elliana, I didn't mean too. Even with the wrist-" Jason began.
"What do you mean the wrist? Did you hurt her?" Cole asked.
"-that wasn't me. I don't know what happened. Some kind of... creature, that came when I needed water. I swear, I'd never hurt you.
"You were dehydrated? Sorry dude, that's not an excuse." Cole said.
"It's different!" Jason said.
"It is." Elliana agreed. "You guys don't understand."
