"Well, that doesn't really make sense." Emily said.
"Obviously not." Elliana said.
"So... what are we going to do about it?" Jason asked.
"I don't know." Elliana admitted.
Cole suddenly raised his hand.
Emily rolled her eyes. "Cole, we're not in school. You don't have to raise your hand." She muttered.
"Okay, then don't interrupt me." Cole said.
Emily rolled her eyes again. "No one's gonna interrupt you, stupid."
Cole did a little motion where he dragged a hand across his mouth, as if zipping something up. "If no one's gonna interrupt me, then zip it." He paused, as if waiting for a response just to scrutinize it.
Emily gave another eye roll, but she didn't reply.
"So, I'm pretty new to all this drama. Before, my biggest problem was that I wasn't getting my homework done on time. Now it's that my friend is kidnapped. So clearly I'm no expert. But, Ryan taught me a way of tackling my homework when I had too many assignments due in too little time. For starters, do one assignment at a time. Don't fry your brain with the information from all the assignments. Second, prioritize the more important work. If you're presenting something tomorrow, it's more important than the last question on a random assignment. Last, dive straight into it before you have time to procrastinate."
After waiting a minute to make sure he was done, Elliana spoke.
"What does your homework have to do with our situation?"
Cole rolled his eyes. "Obviously I'm saying that we should use those steps to tackle everything we have to do. We have so much to get done. We have to save Stacy, find Dodfrish, get Jason's memory back, figure out Jason's powers, figure out why Jason is getting other people's memories. Come to think of it, a lot of our problems revolve around Jason." Cole said.
Jason looked down in shame.
"Okay, so what do you suggest we do, O Great Homework Master?" Emily asked sarcastically.
"What we were originally going to do. Find Stacy. That's the most important thing. We have to just cast everything else aside and focus on helping Stacy." Cole said.
Emily blinked. "Actually that sounds good. Everyone good with that?"
Elliana and Jason shared a look, then they both shrugged.
"See, I'm not entirely stupid." Cole smirked.
"The fact that you had to add the word entirely to that sentence really just describes you perfectly." Emily said, rolling her eyes for the umpteenth time.
"Time to get out of the woods!" Elliana muttered, partially sarcastically.
Then the walk ensued. The long walk. The long walk.
"Are we there yet?"
"No."
Silence.
"Are we there yet?"
Silence.
"Are we there yet?"
"No!"
Silence.
More silence.
"Are we there yet?"
"I already told you no!"
"Don't be so judgy."
"It was a rhetorical question."
"Whatever."
