Six months ago, Vlada would have been horrified to say such things to her kin and Lord, but time tends to have a period of growing up fast and hard. The advisors had come to her, about Lord Cornel Stoica and how a marriage to the nobleman would help relations with Hungary. Vlad didn't see it that way, but as only to leave a crack vulnerability for poison and cheap shots at being assassinated.
No, today was going to be the day Vlad would declare his love and intentions to marry her. Any woman can bear him a son, but trust is hard to have among many. And if he put a baby in her belly, the Voivode of Wallachia would have both.
Vlad hung back for several paces to watch Vlada ride ahead. Her legs were gripping and flexing as her small charger galloped in joy to be out and running for fun and not for battle. Her brown sun kissed hair blowing loosely as Lana thought it was a short horse race. She pulled her horse up to a trot and turned quickly. The dark prince wasn't even galloping but a slow, collected canter.
The young woman started to do a posting trot. It always irritated Vlad as her breasts bounced too much for clear, vitreous thoughts. "Vlada! How many times do I have to remind you about trotting?!"
"It is exactly why I am doing it my lord..."she smiled coyly.
Now his war horse was galloping the short distance between the two. "Come here! Now!"
So Vlada stopped her horse.
And waited for her distant angry male relative to approach hell bent, on his war horse. As the dark prince got closer, he knew now she was just playing and trying to let him let down on his guard. At the last moment Vlad cued his warhorse to half halt and pivot to the right. His strong arms grabbed Vlada, and she came free from her horse easily, since neither her feet were in the stirrups nor her hands on the reins.
"Scumpa mea you have provoked me one too many times..."His teeth grazed her earlobe.
"Mhm...need a ring my lord and then all your dirty words will lead to what you truly desire," her breath blowing across tanned cheek.
"Only a ring?" He hissed playfully.
"Only a ring from my dark prince and ruler of the great nation of Wallachia..." Vlada softly giggled happily.
Vlad placed his future wife on the horse facing him and then dug into a pouch, to produce a satin pouch. The rich purple pouch pales compared to the gold ring with a simple faceted amethyst. The ring most likely cost a small fortune, if not for it probably coming from a German Saxons jeweler who didn't pay his taxes to the dark prince.
With jostling of bodies, limbs and the back of a horse, Vlad kissed her on the lips as his right-hand fingers placed the ring on her left ring finger. "Would you, the most beautiful woman in the world, marry this cruel hearted man?"
"Da, prințul meu!" Vlada said breathlessly.
The happily engaged couple finished their ride to a small cottage high in the mountains. It was in the location of the Transylvanian Forest called Sovata where natural hot springs rose up through the earth. As Vlada reached the door of the cottage, a Greek Orthodox priest stepped out and had to dodge a small fist coming at his face.
"Vlada!" the dark prince yelled and proceeded to race up and hold her fist still. "Forgive her Father, she tends to get scared easily and punches without thought."
The Greek Orthodox priest raised an eyebrow, "This is revealing my Voivode. I would think a sweet and obedient woman would be more to your liking, not a lavender eyed hell cat dressed up as a man."
"No, not when she is a third cousin and holds familiar views on my status as remaining ruler on the throne..." he chuckled. "I know she will be more interested in keeping my back safe."
