I made my class in time but by the time I got there everyone had already started on their lab assignment. A tall figure stood in front of me.’’Hey Mr.Alberto’’, he was my teacher, he was huge, and I mean huge. He was from Columbia, bald, somewhere in his mid-forties. And wore flannel shirts and khaki pants.’’ Mister Johnson, you’re late’’

‘’I’m right on time, the bell hasn’t even rung yet’’ I snapped

‘’You know you’re supposed to be here five minutes before the bell’’ he replied in a low voice.

A stupid rule I thought, I didn’t respond, instead I made my way to my desk. I sat next to my partner, Lisa Blakman, she looked at me in a disappointed yet surprised emotion.

‘’Wow, you’re actually in class, how’s it feel’’ she said sarcastically.

I only missed five classes. I’ve been slipping in class lately. All my teachers, even my P.E., have been on my case ‘cause my grades. Ever since I got in this school, I’ve outta whack, grades, social life( I’ve been called emo so many times, if I hear it one more time I’ll lose it), and so more. I don’t know why I never got anything lower than a B+ in my life. I don’t really have a problem with failing if I get kicked out I’ll go back to the other side and see all my friends.

‘’Get off my case’’ I snapped, not knowing almost three minutes had passed. I never really been so angry in my life other than the time my mom wouldn’t let me have a dog when I was six. I never realized that while sat there thinking I missed half the class.

‘’ You do realize you could get kicked out if you keep lousing up your grades’’ said a voice I never heard. I turned around, I wasn’t aware that I walked out to homeroom. The voice came from Jenny, a girl who I had a crush on. Come to think of it Jenny was one of the few people I didn’t hate here. Her long dark hair was tied in a ponytail, her cocoa skin shined under the lights; she was wearing her usual striped hoodie, and her glasses gleaming with her bright brown eyes. I was distracted admiring her beauty that she broke my thoughts again.

‘’Hello, CAN YOU HEAR ME’’ she exclaimed as if I were deaf. I rolled my eyes. I hated girls who did that, I replied anyway. ’’YES I CAN HERE YOU’’ I shouted to mimic her.

‘’ You should really be careful with your grades, I saw your grades, might as well say ‘Damn this kid stupid’ you could get kicked out’’

‘’Yeah, might as well’’ I said acting like a jerk, god what was wrong with me for the first time in all my life I’m jerk.''

She just stood there looking somewhat proud. She went on about how she’d seen my grades from my old schools and the regular side. Why’d she care and how she know my past…..My past. All of a sudden all these images popped inside my brain images of the days I saw my dad die. It was fuzzy; I couldn’t make out anything from the past two years.

I never really thought about my dad 'til just now. Lately I been having strange nightmares. Mom's been taking me to a doctor, he couldn't find anything wrong with me, instead he said to distract myself. Ever since then, mom's been givin' me $100 allowances and permission to go anywhere I want in hopes that would take things off my mind. I was so bummed out that I didn't realize Jenny was gone and I was riding my bike back home.

By the time I got home, I smelled chicken; I went to the kitchen and saw mom had left me fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Mom worked as an accountant and she had been the best in business, but had gone down since….

I wasn’t hungry, so I went to shower real quick. I stunk real, puberty wasn’t my best friend, after I showered I took care of hair, it was the only thing in this world I cared about.

My room wasn’t the best in the world. Medium, dark blue, sunlight barely got in, and the fact that I covered the room with some disturbing drawings kept my mom out. I had comfortable bed and a desktop in the corner, along with my guitar and skateboard. I looked at my clock, 6:30, mom should’ve been here a long time ago. I walked past Dad’s old study, he mostly stayed there to get away from mom when she was in a mood and to deal with some business, I don’t know why, I went in there to see one more time before mom had it remodeled into a home office for her.

Inside the room was covered in brown furniture that rose to the ceiling, filled with folders and books. Dad’s gun and shotgun were hung in a display case, and a picture of him, me, and Gramps on his desk. His desk was covered in papers mostly of work and cases he was studying, however one paper stuck out one call ‘Project Blackwing’. It had an eagle, much like the one in the back of the quarter but black and more evil looking. One thing that really got my attention was the fact that both dad and Jason’ dad’s name were on there. A flash drive was on top with the same symbol as the paper. I was tempted to see what was on it, but I was got off guard when I heard rattling on the main door.
