If I had a list of stupid things I've done over the past 10 years, riding a motorcycle through a blizzard after having recovered from a head injury would be at the very top.
But hey, what's a life without taking risks. But I had to admit this was dangerous, even for me. The blizzard made it hard to see the road, and what was barely visible turned invisible due to my head killing me.
''Alicia was right, I do need to rest.'' I was somewhat ashamed. If I hadn't been so stubborn, I wouldn't be here. Dad always did say being stubborn ran in our family, especially in both me and him.
I pulled over into a small strip of dirt and ice, looking for a place to crash.
It wasn't long until my eye caught an old, crappy motel nearby. I drove my bike to the ice covered lot and approached the office. The heavy stench on beer and mentol cigarretes nearly made me vomit. Out of bead covered door stepped an old women, way shorter than me and with her hair in a hairnet and holding a cigar.
I tried not to cough, but the stench was killing me. ''Can I help you darling?'' She spoke with a somewhat raspy voice, I think someone should Snow White and tell her the witch is now in Canada.
''I'd like a room for the night, please.'' She took one good look at me, and I couldn't help but think she was either checking me out or trying to see if I was a drug dealer, either way I was just hoping she would hurry up.
''40 bucks for the night sweetie, and an extra 10 for breakfest'' She winked at me and I knew one of my guesses was correct, so I threw the 40 bucks at her and snatched the key from her cheaply manicured hands.
Once I got to my room, I turned on the heater and took off my jacket and shirt. I laid on the bed, taking deep breaths. So many thoughts ran through my mind as if they were wild horses. How was Jason and his old man? How was mom dealing with her only son leaving her? Were the orphanage guys still out looking for me?
Then the most important question ran out my mouth. ''How's Allison?''
I trusted Allison for some reason, as if the couple of days we spent together was a lifetime. But could I trust the other guys back in school? Could I trust Hutcher, who was the eye candy of every girl in school, from not making a move on her?
I took my laptop out of my duffelbag and checked my email. I had an email from Jack.
''Hey Guys, sorry for leaving the school. Ill miss you guys. But my new school is pretty cool. There are alot of kids like me, and there is this girl who kinda has my eye. Her name is Aura. And she is pretty amazing.''
I scrolled through and found a message from Allison. It had nothing written, just a photo attached. I tried opening it, but it forever to load.
I started nodding my head, I was tired, so very tired.
I found myself next to someone's door, it looked very familiar. I also noticed I was wearing semi-casual clothes, something that was a mile away from my normal grungy looking, casual, laid back style.
Then next to me I found her, wearing a short white dress and red lipstick. Allison.
She smiled, ''You know you don't have to do this, right?''
''I want to'' I said, smiling like a goof. Only Allison could make me smile like that.
''My parents are very... picky about boys. Are you sure you want to do this?''
I took her hand and smiled, ''Then what do we do if not have lunch with your parents?''
''I don't know.'' She smiled, showing her pearly white teeth. I took her hand and lead her to nearby park, close to her house. I found an ice cream truck and pulled her next to it.
''Two cones please, vanilla.'' I asked the seller.
I held her hand as she took a nibble from her scoop, leaving a small smudge on her cheek. I wiped it off and smiled, and she giggled.
We found a shady tree to stand by as we continued eating our frosty snack. The setting sun bouncing off her silky black hair.
I couldn't help but kiss her, her lips tasting like vanilla, so sweet.
Around her I had to be careful, I had to force my breathing to stay normal, force myself to not kiss her when she didn't wanna be kissed.
The dream slowly faded, the perfect dream date. Then a gunshot, and blood pouring.
I woke up, sweating everywhere. Just a dream I told myself.
I looked over at my laptop, and finally saw the picture Allison sent me.
It was her, with her hand on her cheek and wear the very same dress and lipstick from my dream, holding a small piece of paper. 'I Miss U <3 Allison'
With that, I fell back to sleep, with a smile back on my face
