The Curious Adventurer gets the consequence of being one.
Both her hands were hanging her backpack to her shoulders, she was walking slower than ever, she was having more of a hard time breathing than she did awhile ago.
Newspapers, actual evidence of her mother's cruelty were shown to her. Weirdly, after everything her and her mother have gone through all these years, she believes the person she has only met a day ago. But evidence is still evidence, she thought to herself. It was enough, more than enough actually to prove everything.
Naturally, she would tell her friends or her mother; but this scenario was utterly different. It was her mother, her own mother, putting people into danger and letting her greed control her. It was ignorance caused by greed. Her mother wouldn't do that she thought, but she did.
Now that she knew, she didn't know what to do, if felt like she had to do something; but half of her feels like she should just sit in nowhere and stay there so that she has nothing to do. She was overwhelmed; she felt like she felt everything.
Trying to bring back people who were harmed was impossible. Trying to tell her mother would be useless, especially if it was true. Trying to tell her friends would be dangerous.
She didn't know, she was irritated at herself for that. Still walking, not stopping barely knowing where to go actually, home or nowhere, she felt like her head was going to pop; she wished it did.
Regret was one of the emotions she felt, regret.
But it was too much of a messy day to even feel things like this.Pennie had to do something; even if she was clueless, she was still waiting for something to come to mind. Many possibilities was already thought of but each of those ideas were invalid due to the unconventionality of the situation.
Pennie tried and tried looking for roads to walk in but all were not meant to be walk on. Leafs fly all through the air then to the ground, but so did all of the things she have thought of.She finally reached home, home has never felt less like home. It felt like she was all anger now, feeling like she should start hating her mother. Her mother, who has been nothing but the best one she could think of.
Suddenly, she remembers how she was the one to bring 'justice to victims'. She had to do something about them, they were all harmed in various ways.
Her mother, Paula Jones, is a criminal. Messing with Pennie's mind; it was pure torture.
Pennie's idea of justice is fairness. If you deliver kindness, you shall get it; the same way goes for unkind actions. An eye for an eye. Technically, her mother killed those people. Her ignorance made it so much worse for them.
Her mother was right in front of her now. Pennie had not spoken, not moved since she has seen her mother sitting on the couch, reading her favorite magazine. Pennie was just looking, barely blinking.
"Pennie? Are you alright?" Her mother asked, Pennie did not answer and remained as she was.
Pennie still didn't know what to do, but she knew she had to think of something to do to not be obvious that she wasn't clueless. She knew everything now. Not certainly, but still on that zone.
"Pennie." Paula closed her magazine and spoke.
"Mom, can I go to Johnny's house?" It was the only thing she could think of to do. She would've though more of it if she wasn't pressured by the small amount of time she has before her mother becomes more worried.
"Of course you can." She puts down her magazine, and breathes a deep sigh of relief. "You got me worried for no reason."
"Sorry." Paula smiled at her, again with a breathe of relief. She sounded like that sweet little child she was, oblivious about her mother's cruelty.
"What time will you go? Are staying again for the whole night?" Paula asks, still acting normally, which made Pennie feel worse than she already was. She was acting like she was innocent, like she wasn't letting all those people die all these years.
Paula was going through cabinets and cabinets looking for some food to eat. Everything she does now makes Pennie madder. Not many people have cabinets in the home like theirs, it had an exquisite design to it, and it was obvious that it was quite expensive. The Jones always had a lot money but most of it came from the pill that Paula had made years ago."Now," She couldn't stay any longer with the woman she hates most at the moment. Yesterday, she was the most important person to her life, now she just wants to hate her with all of her. "Bye mom." Still, faking her emotions was very hard to her, but Pennie did have years of training with her lying since it's been a habit to her.
Pennie got out of the door already. Even if she was still with her backpack that was quite heavy, she felt free. It felt like she was freed from chains wrapped around her neck. Her mother's being in the same room as her felt like absolute misery.
She was walking over to Johnny's house, still clueless of what she would do. She trust Johnny so much, but there is absolutely no way she could ever let him know. Not only would it put her mother in more danger, it could also put him in danger. Knowing too much can be dangerous.
