First impressions

The air grew stuffy with tension as the two young teens stared at the misled adult infront of them. Both of them looked sweaty and dirty from their training outside, flushed faces not doing either of them favors. Sirens were practically sounding in her father's head as the green haired boy before him glanced towards his daughter.

Now, Ochako lying to her father about who she's been hanging out with was one thing, but lying to her father about the gender of whom she hanging out with was worse. His little girl hanging out with a boy, days on end without any supervision? Who knows what could've been happening between them all this time?! Despite his inner dad senses shouting in worry, yelling at him to confront the issue immediately, he resisted.

He cared about the trust his daughter did have in him, surely she'd straighten things out about her lie after her guest left. It wasn't like she truly had a choice in the matter anyways, not if she wanted to keep seeing the disheveled bush of a boy in front of him.

Sucking up his inner monologue he cleared his throat, relaxing his once tense shoulders as he looked down at the boy before him. "You are the Midori friend, correct?" Uraraka's face went pale over her father's question, going to take hold of his forearm as she looked up at him. "Dad-" "Yes I am sir. I-i'm Izuku Midoriya." The boy would greet, a tremor just barely remaining in his voice as he bowed his head to him.  Sure, it was really formal of him but he didn't know what else to do.

Raising his head up he extended his hand in front of him, trying to keep that calm demeanor as he furthered his introduction. "It's nice to finally meet you Mr.--" snap a cartoonish boing left Midoriya's hair followed by a pained hiss. That move alone sent his heart straight to his gut as he watched the brunette's father stumble back. His rubber band just broke and snapped into his face.  Right into his eye.

Somehow being able to survive that cliff dive didn't seem like such a blessing now....

Ochako looked between the two, a panicked whine leaving her as she rubbed her dad's arm. "Oh god.. are you okay? His hair just does that, it was an accident!" She'd excuse him, Midoriya's shame just growing more as he aggressively bowed his head. "I'm very, very sorry sir!"

The dinner table was set and the room was silent, nobody uttered a word after that awkward encounter at the front door. The mother couldn't even ignore it, feeling the need to apologize after her spoon had fallen with a loud cling. Ochako pursed her lips looking down at her bowl as if she was a child that had just been scolded. Midoriya on the other hand had been hyper focusing on the bread in his hand, running his butterknife over the loaf to avoid looking at anyone, especially her father.

Though, if he did look, he would've seen that the father had a cheery smile on as he ate his wife's cooking. His eye was only slightly red with agitation, but it wasn't anything too serious.
"This'll be a funny story to bring up at work." He joked after a long moment of silence, making himself chuckle which eased the tension for a majority at the table. "A kid had a hidden projectile in his hair and got me by surprise, pow! Right in the eye!"

Now the way that he said that made a smile sneak onto Midoriya's face, much to the father's relief. Ochako even smiled to see him get out of his thoughts, patting his knee under the table as to further the reassurance. "You could probably use your hair as a weapon for entrance exams if you think about it." The girl joked, earning an actual laugh out of the boy. "The teacher claims your answer is wrong, then boom, suddenly he can't see any of the questions to correct them!"

His face flushed in pure embarrassment as he shook his head, raising his hands up to cover his face. From then on his laughter was contagious, making the atmosphere calmer once more. So maybe this wasn't the worst first impression, but it was definitely one he'd be dreading being teased for.

After dinner was over and goodbyes were exchanged, Ochako walked Midoriya to the bus station. He tucked his hands into his pockets, more than ready to go to bed after that stressful interaction. "Your parents are really sweet, I kind of expected things to get worse if I'm being honest." Midoriya would bashfully state, earning a smile from Ochako. "Worse than your hair fluffing on my dad?" "Yes. Worse than that." Midoriya would sigh, earning another laugh.

"I told you they are amazing people, just protective of me. I think all fear went out the window with your aggressive apologizing." She smiled at him, giving his shoulder a nudge with her elbow. "I hope it was as fun for you as it was for me. I kind of liked having you over." Midoriya smiled at that information, though a slight part denied that to be true. She was probably just saying that to be nice.

"Are we gonna hang out tomorrow?" She'd lean forward slightly to make eye contact with him. She felt like she lost him for a moment, and based on his sudden blink of attention she was proven correct. "Like what we've usually been doing? Me coming over to your house?" He'd look at the sky for a moment before humming. "Seeing how late you get home, I kind of wanted to ask if you'd prefer me coming here to hang out with you instead?"

The brunette blinked over his suggestion, seeming confused by it till she considered what he's seen. It's late at night for her in a neighborhood that she speeds through, being a longer distance to her home from the bus stop they were walking to. A familiar trait of his consideration for her. It never failed to make her heart feel warm. "No, no, it's okay. I like how our schedule has been working out. Besides, my school gets out a little earlier than yours does, so I don't mind." she reassured

He hummed with a nod at that, sighing softly as he allowed himself to take in the sights of the neighborhood. The black street lights illuminated the sidewalk beside the settling businesses closing up for the night. The distant hum of a grasshopper and chirps of a cricket could be heard hiding within the grass they walked beside. The street art even seemed to illuminate more at night than it was allowed to in the morning... It was far more serene to walk past than he initially expected it to be. "This is nice."

"it really is. New bits of scenery never hurt anyone, right?" She mused with a smile tucking some of her hair behind her ear. "The art here especially... I know some works here aren't legal but they kind of feel like murals that change weekly." she mused watching as the train would come towards them, wind breezing against both of their faces as it came to a stop . "I guess that's your signal to go..." She hummed gently before pulling him into a hug. "Get home safe, okay? It's always fun spending time with you." she spoke softly as the boy reluctantly gave her a soft squeeze back.

"I like hanging out with you too." He'd return the comment despite the heat growing on his face after making that statement. He'd part from her, giving her a final smile. "Goodnight Uraraka san." He'd get himself on the train, sighing to compose himself as he took a seat, hands holding the bottom of his sweater.  So she really meant it. She enjoyed his company just as he did her as a whole. It left him feeling warm as he looked out the window over at her, watching as her image blurred before disappearing as the train began to take him home.
