no one dared to say a word, everyone was scared for what was next "i've been, uhh- i've been thinking about rick's plan. now look, there are no guarantees either way. i'll be the first one to admit that. i've known this man a long time. i trust his instincts. i say the most important thing here is we need to stay together. so those of you that agree, we leave first thing in the morning. okay?" shane said, for lillian's understanding everyone agreed.
"hey, wanna go play?" carl asked while walking over to stella "yeah, let's go, coral." she replied before getting up and following the boy, they stayed in lillian's eye sight which she was grateful for. she noticed daryl sitting by himself by his tent so she walked over towards him and sat down on the tree stump that was in front of him.
"hello, mr. dixon." she said causing him to look up at her with a small smile on his face "hello, ms. everly." he replied, daryl looking at the litter of freckles that covered her face. "ready to leave?" daryl asked making her sigh quietly "not really, we were safe here, for a bit." she said while looking around "i mean, i hope the cdc is safe but for all we know it could be overrun." she continued, looking back at the redneck. "yeah." daryl replied quietly, stella had walked over and told her mother that carl had gone to bed meaning she should as well, so she did, though lillian stayed with her daughter, worrying setting in once again.
that morning, they packed up there belongings and stood with the rest of the group "everybody listen up. those if you with c.b's we're gonna be on channel forty. let's keep the chatter down, okay? now you gotta a problem, dong have a c.b., can't get a signal or anything at all, you're gonna hit your horn one time. that'll stop the caravan. any questions?" shane informed "daryl, mind if we ride with you? dale kinda destroyed my car for parts." she said with a small smile "yeah, sure." he said.
morales' family had decided not to join the group with shocked everyone, rick handed him a gun while also handing them a box half full of ammo, lillian hugged every member of the family as well as lori. stella bid goodbye to the daughter of the family that she had become friends with. lillian and stella both got into daryl's truck "what made you get into using a bow?" stella asked from the middle seat seeing as there weren't back seats, stella's question made lillian chuckle "i was a crossbow hunter for a while, i like using it." he said to the little girl.
"that's cool, can you teach me how to shoot one?" stella said happiness evident in her voice "as long as it's okay with your mom." he said while speeding up a bit "please, mom." stella said trying to do her best puppy dog eyes, looking up at her mom who just chuckled. "sure, as long as you guys are safe about it." lillian said while stella threw her arms in the air happily.
they noticed dales RV stopping so everyone pulled over and got out to see what the problem was "i told you we'd never get far on that hose." dale said to rick "i said i needed the one from the cube van." the older man continued "can you jury-rig it?" rick asked "that's all it's been so far. it's more duct tape than hose." dale said. "and i'm out of duct tape." he continued.
"y'all, jim- it's bad. i don't think he can take anymore." jacqui said while coming out of the RV quickly. "hey rick, you wanna hold down the fort? ill drive ahead, see what i can bring back" shane said, lillian walked away so she didn't hear anymore of that conversation, she was feeling super uneasy about everything, not having a safe place, jim being bitten and slowly dying, and having to keep an eye on her daughter who had loved to wander away.
"mom, what's happening to jim?" stella asked while pointing up at a tree where everyone was, leaving him there since he had asked, lillian crouched down and placed her hands on stella's shoulders "he was bitten, darlin' he can't make it anymore." lillian said before standing up, stella wrapping her small arms around her mothers waist and holding onto her.
"i hope everything goes back to normal." stella said while watching everyone bid their goodbyes to jim. they all got back into their cars and drove off once again, leaving jim behind completely. "i feel so bad." lillian said while looking at the window towards where jim was left. "it happens." daryl said, stella had now fallen asleep, with her head in her mothers lap and eventually moving her legs into daryl's lap.
"sorry, about her." she said while nodding her head in the direction of stella's legs "don't worry about it." he said while keeping his eyes on the road. "'he's hangin' round your kid to get close to you'" she said, quoting daryl from the other day, he looked at her with furrowed brows before focusing his eyes back on the road once again.
"that's what you said, now you're going to teach my kid how to shoot a crossbow. maybe you have the same intentions as shane." she said, looking out the window once again. "wouldn't you like to know?" he said with a smile on his face, she laughed before putting her hair up into a high ponytail to get it out of her face, though it didn't do much as two pieces fell in front of her face, she brushed them behind her ears continuing to have a smile on her face.
