Toni was in the school gym, practicing her cheerleading drills with everyone else, one earbud in to partly drown out Daisy's obnoxious yelling. It was only because of Bobby's influence on the team that her little sister wasn't kicked off last year. Their captain Daisy sure fought like hell to ostracize the bi girl though. In truth, Toni couldn't have cared less about cheerleading, hell, she was only in it to stick close to Bobby, but she did hate the feeling of always being the odd man out. The other girls still gave her vicious, judge-y looks in the locker room, but the worst of the name-calling and shaming finally seemed to be behind them.
She suddenly noticed Fernando lingering by the bleachers. She stumbled and missed a step.
"DeCaso! What has Satan made you do now?" Daisy demanded, glaring at her with beady green eyes. "Get back in formation!"
"Actually, can I take a break?"
"No breaks! Only drills! Let's go, go, go!"
"Hey, Hitler!" Bobby called. "She asked for a break!"
Daisy crossed her arms and glowered at Bobby. Toni gave her sister a grateful look before she bounded away, winking at Daisy as she passed. The other girl was fuming.
"Qué pasa?" She hurried over to Fernando. "Or as we say here, what the hell are you doing? You look like a fuckin' perv or whatever." She downed her water bottle.
"Do not," he scoffed. "And I didn't know you were a cheerleader. Aw," he smiled. "You look so cute out there!"
She rolled her eyes and slapped his hand away when he tried to pinch her cheek. "Enough. Look, what do you want? I told you we shouldn't really be seen in public together." She looked around cagily.
"Ugh," he rolled his eyes. "That's so stupid. We're amigos! Why can't we just hang out occasionally, eh?" He nudged her. She just grumbled and crossed her arms. "It's no big deal. Besides, if you want everything on the up n' up then why don't you just introduce me to your boyfriend?" He winked.
"Yeah, you'd like that, wouldn't you?" She huffed.
"Actually, I was sorta hoping we could go on a double date or something."
"You got a date?" She instantly felt a pang of jealousy.
"Well not yet but I was thinking about asking your sister out."
Toni gasped with horror, then smacked his arm. "Dude, what the actual hell? You can't date my freaking sister!"
"Jeez, please tell me how you really feel about it," he rubbed his arm and gave her a look. "So what? All the hot people are yours?"
"She's my sister! That's disgusting. What's wrong with you?"
"I dunno. High libido?"
"What?"
"Well, what am I supposed to do then? You're all I got."
"Gee, thanks," she snorted.
"You know what I meant," he rolled his eyes again.
"Okay fine, fuck. Ban's lifted. We can hang out."
"Gee, thanks," he shot her a look.
"Y'know what I meant," she fired back with a huff. "C'mon. I'm gonna blow off practice. These bitches wish they could see me sweat through my shirt. Let's chill." He smirked as he followed her outside.

After school, Toni and Luke drove down the coast and parked at their usual hiding spot under an abandoned boardwalk. They laid out a blanket before the Mustang on the sand, the only sounds were the crashing of the waves and the wind whistling through the creaking wood laced above them.
"I've really missed this, Tone," he smiled as he ran his hand through her hair.
"Me too. Really. You have no idea how crazy I get when you're not around," she straddled his lap. "You haven't told me much about your summer," she mused as she slid off his jacket.
"Whatcha talkin' about? I texted you every day," he smiled more as she slipped her hands under his shirt. "I even called, n' y'know I hate talkin' on the phone."
"I know," she rolled her eyes. "Ugh, I hate it when you go away..." she trailed off painfully and hid her face in his neck. One day he might never come back. That was her biggest fear. His mom's family was pretty passionate about convincing her to move back to Florida. Luke's grandfather even took him to check out the Naval academy he and the rest of the family had went to. It felt like they were trying to get Luke to follow in their footsteps and one day, Toni feared, he just might. This was his last school year, after that it was off to collage which was most likely going to be in fuckin' Florida.
It felt like they were doomed.
"I hate leavin', Tone," he kissed her temple. "I love my girl," he ran his hands over her back. "This is the only thing I wanna do all the time," he started kissing the side of her neck.
"I hate it how they always drag you away every single summer. It feels like I never get to spend any time with you," she whispered with frustration. "We got stupid school, you got that shitty job on the weekends, and your summers are always spent lightyears away," she closed her eyes as he gently pressed his teeth into her tendon.
"I'm sorry, baby. Ya gotta know how much I hate it too," he undone her bra and pulled it free from beneath her shirt.
Toni smiled mischievously as she shoved him down. "You're way too good at that." He just shrugged a shoulder, his dimples deepened when he smiled.
"C'mere, baby. Let's have some fun tonight. I've missed ya like crazy." He tugged on her shorts.
"Not tonight," she moaned sadly, brushing his hand away. "I mean, I didn't, um...and you don't have...uh." She shrugged with a blush.
"I can solve at least one of those problems. Wanna go back to my place? Y'know I have the house to myself at nights."
"Curfew," she painfully reminded him.
"Fuck," he whispered. "I love you, baby," he fiercely pressed a kiss to her lips.
"I really freaking love you, Connors."
