Yusaku opened the door and glanced around the living room. Kayla wasn't there. So that meant that she was probably in his- er, their- bedroom.

He walked into the kitchen and ran into someone. He and the person stumbled backwards.

"Ow." Kayla groaned, rubbing her stomach where he had elbowed her.

"Are you alright?" Yusaku asked nervously.

"I'm fine." Kayla gave him a small smile. "I didn't think that you would be back for a while longer."

"I figured that I should come back and check on you." Yusaku started.

"Yusaku, I'm fifteen. You don't need to babysit me." Kayla gave him her 'isn't it obvious' look that he had gotten a lot when they were kids. When they were kids he would have given her the same look back. One time their parents had caught the two of them in the act and, much to their horror, took a picture and put it in their photo album, titling the page 'sibling glare-off'. But that was when they were kids. And Yusaku had forgotten all about it until just then.

"Of course not." He agreed. "But still, I wanted to make sure."

"Mm-hmm." Kayla tried to hide her disappointment. "Anyways, dinner's ready."

"But I didn't even start cooking yet."

"I know. But I did. Had to do something while you were gone. Now come on, let's eat before it gets cold."
