-Flashback-

"Looks like we're going to win." Glacier smirked. "One more blow and this guy's done for."

"I agree." Varis nodded. "Attack! Rokket Synchron!"

Glacier watched as Varis' monster geared up to attack. Thanks to one of her trap cards she had managed to give it an extra thousand attack points, which had added up to 1300, exactly the amount of Life Points their opponent had left.

"Do it now!" Their opponent hissed to apparently no one.

The Data storm they were riding on split into two separate parts, Varis on one and Glacier and their opponent on the other. The Data Storm that Varis was on began to get rougher, violently so. He struggled to stay on his D-board.

"What are you doing?" Glacier demanded, spinning to their opponent.

"What needs to be done."

Her eyes widened. "No."

"Yes. And there's no way to stop-"

She jumped off her D-board, landing easily on the nearest building. She ran over it to the nearest building and jumped across the gap. She kept repeating this, slowly getting closer to Varis each time.

"Varis!" She shouted. "Take the next turn!"

Varis spotted her and nodded. When the option to turn came up, he chose to do so, putting him directly in her path.

She leapt off the building, her D-board materializing beneath her as she fell. She landed right behind Varis just as he D-board tipped, the edge scraping against a nearby building. He stumbled. She reached out her hand, trying to grab him. Their fingers touched for just a second before he slipped away.

She waited for his forced logout to activate. It didn't.

She tapped a button on her duel disk. "Could use some help here Snow."

"On it." Snow's voice said.

A few seconds later Varis vanished. She sighed with relief and jumped off her D-board. A portal appeared beneath her feet and she slipped through it, reappearing outside the Link VRAINS hub.

"Thanks," She said to her currently absent partner.

"Don't thank me yet. That person who you were dueling installed some kind of virus to Varis. I was in such a hurry that I didn't notice it before he logged out."

Glacier frowned. "Will he be okay?"

"I don't know. But you should get back to the real world soon. Your time is running short."

"Got it." Glacier quickly logged out. She hoped that Varis was okay. If not, this could get messy very, very quickly.
