Chapter twenty eight:

Melanie POV

"So your mother forced you into an arranged marriage?" Grandmother queried with anguish, clearly displeased about not knowing anything about it. Nodding sheepishly I continued on with my lengthened story "Yes, she forced me to marry this man named Henry. Henry Cavill. He is actually a celebrity, I am unsure if you would know him?"

Grandmothers eyebrow arched "I don't believe I do recognise the name... though who cares who he is, are you happy?" Stifling a laugh already knowing Nana wouldn't be accustomed to him due to her field of films being tightly boxed- mainly novels is what she indulged in. Always deeming television wasted time- bad for your eyes and the most iconic one of them all 'You'll get square eyes'.

"Ironically nana, we fell in love. We was never meant to- but we did. I am happy" A warm smile grazed over the crinkled cheeks on nana's face, believing me whole heartedly. "Then whatever is the matter?" Frowning instantly- removing the doe eyes and replacing them with worry I taunted with myself whether or not to tell her. "Nothing is the matter, I just wanted to talk to someone about it.." I lied straight through my teeth.

a loud sip from grandmothers cup sounded in a somewhat strained squeak "You're lying" Clutching my hands together and digging my nails into my palms I felt the colour wash from my face- now feeling paled and sickly. "N-no not at all" Instinctively I licked my dry lips which only added to the lies further- who was I kidding, my nan could read me like an open book. "Tell me the truth now Melanie" At this moment I decided to make a mental note that I apparently was as readable as ever- maybe not such a tightly closed box.

"So I am kind of pregnant" I jutted out, sickness wafting up my nostrils due to the sudden adrenaline kick; my heart palpitating through my ribcage with haste. Dorothy simply clasped her mouth with her skinny hand- a light chuckle being muffled. "Oh my dear you had me so scared!" Knitting my brows in confusion I peered up intently at the now grinning lady across the room which only startled me more.

"Did you think I was going to scold you?"

Clicking my knuckles was a bad habit of mine which I was now doing as second nature- even causing Fergus to shiver at the sound. "But nan I am pregnant. Why are you not mad?"

Dorothy peeled herself from her chair, taking hold of her table for support. "You're old enough to not need the birds and bee's talk Melanie. You knew it was always a possibility. You're also old enough to make your own choices, so why could little ol me change that? All I care about is your happiness"

a light blush tinted my plumped cheeks- finally adding colour back to my white stricken face. "Thank you nana, You always know the right things to say"

Nana stepped towards me, ordering me to stand with her eyes "Now give me a hug- you almost gave me a heart attack!"

Sucking back a laugh I wrapped my arms around my nans small, shortened frame. Careful not to hurt her in the process "And I am not fragile my dear, hug me means hug me" Dorothy grumbled pulling me in tighter so all the air sucked out of my lungs.

Henry POV

Gingerly my fingers grasped upon a photo- there was piles of beautiful green fields in the background with Melanie as a child holding a small, white Scottish terrier. Next to her was an older lady that had high cheekbones with short cut greying hair- though it was mostly a dark brunette. I gathered this to be her grandmother- the smile Melanie wore was picturesque; I loved seeing her so happy. That is when it clicked, I recognised where this photo was taken. This was Scotland- more specifically the northern highlands. As I had visited before I was accustomed to certain details. Though it did not answer one of my questions which was most important- where would she be staying? After-all I am not physic. This was going to be gravely annoying as well as difficult but instead of pondering with my thoughts I decided to wing it.
