Chapter thirty four:The walls were decorated with dumbo wallpaper- one of my favourite Disney characters. A crib was built up already for baby cavill's arrival; the bedding was also disney printed but this time was bambi. I smiled hopelessly at the little nursery me and Henry had built, in the corner was a chest of white drawers and hung on the walls was scan photos I had received over the last few months. One of my favourite things about being pregnant so far was the scans, seeing our baby wiggle on the screen in all their glory. We decided to keep the gender a secret, waiting until birth which was evidently hard. I nearly broke at times in scan rooms where they would ask me if I wanted to know, Henry would give me a light glare as if to say 'no Melanie' and we would go home giggling about it later, my self restraint being weak as ever.
My tummy had grown in size considering I only had two weeks left until the baby's arrival which Henry was obsessed with, all the time he would place his hands upon my stomach and whisper sweet nothings. Many would become irritated by it but I just found it absolutely adorable.
My hospital bag was already packed consisting of everything I needed- maybe too much. Henry scolded me for the amount of things I thought I needed to bring with me, picking up items with his lips curled inwards always telling me I was packing as if I was moving in. Shaking my head I would explain to him the reasons why I needed every individual item, he decided not to argue with me. After all you never know how long you may have to stay in hospital for.
Tonight Henry was taking me out for dinner which I was so excited for- we needed a good date night before baby Cavill made their arrival. I was dressed in a red fitting dress, black heels and glittered, dangly earrings swung in my ears. I felt a-little uncomfortable given the massive bump in the way but I also felt the most confident; I was growing a human and for some reason that empowered me in many ways as a woman.
"You look beautiful Melanie" Henry complimented, quipping his eyes to me in a flash as I walked towards him. Taking his outstretched hand he guided me to the restaurant which was most beautiful. Fairy lights were hooked on the walls and it seemed we were pretty alone which was favourable. "You don't look too bad yourself" I teased flashing him a wink. Henry chuckled softly, seating us down at a table in the corner.
"What would you like to drink?" Henry asked, frowning I stared down at the drink menu; almost wallowing in self pity that I couldn't have an alcoholic drink. Pushing it aside I saw Henry grinning towards me from the menu, eyeing him I placed the menu down. "What is it?"
"We can pretend it's wine if you like?" Henry mused in a teasing way. "If you close your eyes and imagine it being wine- apparently it will taste like it" Tightening my jaw I ignored his comment and decided on a water, not wanting to tease myself any further with all the options. "I'm so ready not to be pregnant anymore" I groaned, Henry then proceeded to order his infamous beverage which was his familiar scotch. Licking my lips dryly I followed his glass as it placed on the table. "Did you have to be so cruel?" I whined like a child. "Mmm this is really good, quite refreshing" Henry mumbled, still teasing me as usual which he tended to do since I became pregnant.
