Chapter Seven
It's Like A Damn Romance Novel
Alyssa drowned out the noise of the wailing walkers with the music playing through her earbuds. She helped Daryl and Zach gather some crates and weapons for the run. Daryl nudged her arm to get her attention and gestured to Zach and Beth talking. A grin grew on Alyssa's face as she took out an earbud to watch the fiasco unravel in front of her. Poor Zach was embarrassing himself."Just, you know, wanted to make sure I saw you before," he explained to his girlfriend.
"Okay," Beth replied, seemingly unconcerned about her boyfriend potentially getting hurt.
"I just...Cause, you know, it's dangerous going out there," Zach continued, a bit bothered about his girlfriend not caring.
Beth chuckled. "I know." She shrugged and planted a kiss on his cheek before walking away.
"Okay. Are you gonna say goodbye?" Zach called after her.
"Nope!" Beth answered as she walked past Daryl and Alyssa.
Daryl looked back and Beth as he walked up to Zach. "It's like a damn romance novel," he commented.
"Not a very good one," Alyssa added while flipping her knife into the air and catching it.
"Screw you both," Zach replied in an annoyed tone.
Alyssa grinned and walked over to the rest of the group. It seemed Bob was trying to convince Sasha to let him go on the run. She was no doubt a tough negotiator and understandably. Bob had only been there a week, they didn't know him that well.
Glenn handed some safety gear to Alyssa as she joined him at the side of the car. "You know, he was a medic in the army," he added in support of Bob. Sasha seemed unbothered.
"You a hell of a tough sell. You know that?" Bob chuckled.
Sasha sighed and gave in. "Okay," she agreed before stepping behind the wheel and closing the door. Glenn got in next to her and Alyssa in the back as usual. Bob got in with them while Tyreese and Zach took the truck. Daryl, of course, rid in the front on his motorcycle.
As they approached the gate, they stopped when they saw Michonne was back. After she talked with Daryl for a few minutes, she opened the door at Alyssa's side. "Mind making some room?" She asked with a smile. Alyssa undid her seatbelt and moved over so Michonne could sit. The car started up again while Rick opened the gate. "I got you something," Michonne mentioned as she reached into her bag and pulled out a new set of knives.
Alyssa's eyes widened and she practically ripped open the package. They were a lot larger than her usual ones. Bigger than her hand and so sharp they could cut through paper with ease.
"You're the best," Alyssa told her with a smile.
"I have been told that before, yes," Michonne grinned.
