Chapter Eleven Claimers
Trigger warning: This chapter contains a description of sexual assault. I assume because you're reading, you've seen The Walking Dead and probably know what scene I'm talking about. I don't like to write about sexual assault because it's a sensitive topic, but I felt there was no way to get around this one. Please skip this chapter if sexual assault makes you uncomfortable or is a possible trigger for you.
They were together again, headed for a place called Terminus. "Sanctuary for all, community for all, those who arrive, survive". They figured if the others saw it, they'd go too, so it was worth a shot. It gave them a goal, a purpose. And as it turns out, being on the road with Rick, Carl and Michonne was pretty fun. Other than explaining why they couldn't go back, Alyssa and Rick hadn't really talked about what happened, but they were a lot closer than before. Then there was Michonne, who'd always been pretty awesome. And Carl...Well, he and Alyssa were inseparable.
"I think we got about a day's worth of water left," Rick commented as he walked side by side with Alyssa over the tracks. "We're lucky it's cooled off a little bit, but-" he turned around to see Michonne and Carl further behind them than expected. They were balancing on the train tracks, arms in the air and all. "What are you doing?" Rick questioned.
"Winning a bet," Carl replied with a smile.
"In your dreams," Michonne countered.
"I'm still on," Carl argued just before he started swaying.
"Ha, you spoke too soon, wise guy," Michonne laughed.
Rick shared a look with Alyssa before he turned back to the two circus acrobats. "This might go on a while," he pointed out. "Maybe we can speed this up."
"Yeah, you're right," Michonne answered. "We shouldn't be fooling around. Maybe we can- Carl!" She tried to scare her opponent, but it made her lose balance and she fell of, losing the bet.
Carl smiled triumphantly. "I win," he declared. "Pay up." He held out his hand towards Michonne, who went digging through her backpack and pulled out two candy bars. "Is that really the last Big Cat?" Carl asked, eyeing the candy.
As he reached for it, Michonne sighed. "Oh, come on," she pleaded.
"Hey, but you said winner's choice," Carl argued.
"Go ahead, it's yours. You won it fair and square," Michonne said as she put away the other bar.
A smile grew on Rick's face when Carl broke it in half and handed one half to Michonne. "Come on, we always share."
"Fork it over," Michonne grinned.
Alyssa looked over at Rick. "Children, right?" she joked.
Rick gave her an 'oh, really?' look before shaking his head and laughing. "Come on, let's keep going."
