"We're More Than Just . . ."

We're not just the descendants of slaves,

Who bent their backs working for their owners,

And sacrificed their lives to be saved,

From the fear and hatred behind their shoulders.

We're not just a subject of prejudice,

Who's been at war for 400 years.

We're not just people who don't deserve to feel this,

Much fear and shed thousands of tears.

We're not just targets for cops,

Who shoot us without hesitation.

We're not just put in a box,

Ruled by discrimination.

No. We're more than that.

We're from the soldiers,

Who fought for us to see tomorrow,

To live a life free of controllers,

To not live a life of sorrow.

We're from a line of creators,

Who say what's unsaid.

We're a collection of stories,

That are all ready to be read.

We're a blended family,

Of different cultures and shades,

With different personalities,

That deserve love and praise.

We're not just the topic on the News,

We're humans that deserve God's love, too.
