(Note: A very late New Year's special.)
~
(Ten!) For now we can put down our pens
Because the chapter of '22 has reached its end.
(Nine!) As it grows close to midnight,
I pray that this new year will give us peace of mind.
(Eight!) In a world full of fools, violence, and hate,
Let us find little moments to celebrate.
(Seven!) Even though it didn't feel like heaven,
I count the happy memories as blessings.
(Six!) I taste apple cider on my lips,
Enjoying this rare of moment of bliss.
(Five!) Lord, I pray for those that didn't survive
I hope they're up there with You and will continue to fly.
(Four!) I've had days, where I've broken down on the floor,
Yet my goals help me move forward.
(Three!) Let me continue to watch TV with my family
While we laugh, talk, and eat.
(Two!) It's amazing that we continued
On whether the skies were gray or blue.
(One!) Excitement and cheer fill our lungs
As we claim that the year is finally done.
Happy New Year!
We did it.
