Since COVID took away our normal routine,
We are forced to find a new one.
Something to fill up our lonely
And when we awake with the morning sun.
So I wake up, getting ready for Zoom,
While the house stays asleep.
Even with all of the doom and gloom,
You give me a reason to move my feet.
I look around,
Confirming that I am alone.
You pick me up when I'm down,
Whether out loud or in my headphones.
Images take shape in my mind
As verses spill from my mouth with ease.
I'm grateful for every time,
Every moment that you've made me happy.
Catchy beats are what I needed
Since life gets confusing by the mile.
The days are boringly repeated,
Even a little difference would make it worthwhile.
The world grows dark,
Yet you remind us of light.
Never-ending change weighs on our hearts,
But you give us a reason to smile.
You allow us to let loose
When life ties us up.
You allow us to express our truth
When society lies saying, "We're not enough".
Thank you for being a gift from God
For all of time you've been around.
Life is harder than I thought,
So thank you for filling me up with your sound.
