"I wish this moment would last forever" I said "Me too" FP agreed, taking my hand and kissing it. It was 11:am, and we had been lying in my bed all morning. It was our first week of summer, so I guess you could say we could do whatever we wanted. No school, no murders, just bliss. "So are we still meeting Fred and Hermione at Sweetwater Swimming Hole?" He asked. I laughed, "I totally forgot about it but yeah, we could use a change of scenery" I said, sitting up. I groaned and got up out of the bed, pulling my clothes on. I turned to him "You know I think I'm gonna head to the wyrme first" He nodded "Okay, but be back before 1, that's when we gotta leave to meet them" I grinned and kissed him on the cheek. I climbed out of bed and walked out of my bed room, into the bathroom. I opened the cupboard door and took out a box of tablets. With everything that had happened in the past few months, I'd asked a Serpent for meds, to help. Okay, so maybe I'd bought drugs off someone, but they helped. I opened the box and swallowed a few of them down with a glass of water.

The Whyte Wyrme
11:13am

It had been 6 months since the events of The Angel Of Death, aka my arch nemesis Penny Peabody who turned out to be a cold blooded killer. I guess you could say I'd been avoiding the wyrme, I mean I did shoot a Serpent, whether or not it was self defense, and as far as most of the female Serpents were concerned, I was the reason Penny was in prison. Which wasn't true because she deserved to be there, I think they had all forgotten that she almost killed Forsythe Pendleton, their leader, and murdered Amber Downer, another Serpent. Ever since the night had happened, memories had been circling around in my head. The moment Penny had confessed, the moment I'd grabbed the gun off FP and shot her. My therapist said that I would always feel guilty, whether or not it was self defense. I guess she was right, but there was something else about that night, that I hadn't told anyone, not even FP. Just after Penny was taken off in the ambulance, I saw a dark figure in the woods, like a person. I hadn't told anyone because I was afraid it might start again, but its been 6 months, so it was probably just someone going for a walk, right? I heard the familiar jingle of the bell as I walked into the wyrme, the illuminous snake that was stuck on the wall looked as though it was starting at me. It's red eyes glaring into my soul. The Wyrme was busier than usual because it was summer break, the majority of Serpents I saw were teenagers, whom I went to school with. Most of them eyed me and whispered as I walked in. I trudged over to a table where my friends Tessa and Marie were playing poker. Tessa looked over Marie's shoulder and beamed. "Oh my god Alice! I didn't think you were gonna come!" She said, pulling me into a hug. Tessa may have been a fierce Serpent, but she was a big softie at times. "Yeah, well I figured I should just come out and face my fears ya know? And see you guys! How are you?" I said, looking back and forth between them "Good" Marie nodded, "Oh my gosh your bump!" I said eyeing her pregnant belly, She smiled "Any time now" She looked up at me, her smile fading "How are you holding up?" I sighed, but eventually replied "As best as I can" Tessa nodded, "Well your doing great" She said, hugging me again and almost squeezing me to death. Marie stood up, "I would love to stick around but I have a friend to meet" Tessa raised an eyebrow, "Again? It's like everyday now?" Marie laughed "At least I socialise" Tessa pulled a face at her, joking. "Well well well, look what we have here" Shit. I spun around to see Gladys Wilkin and a few other female Serpents stood there, arms folded. "If it wasn't Alice Smith, back from the dead" She spat, looking me up and down. "Hello Gladys, nice to see you too" She smirked "You been in hibernation?!" She sniggered, I rolled my eyes. "Pretty sure Penny's the one that's in hibernation" Tessa chirped up from behind me, some of the Serpents behind Gladys laughed. Gladys frowned, looking hurt. I know they had beef, but Penny used to be Gladys's best friend, in a way, I kinda felt bad for her. "What are you doing here?" I raised an eyebrow "I'm a Serpent? it's like my second home" "Not anymore" She exclaimed "You broke a Serpent law, a Serpent never betrays their own, you shot Penny!" "It was self defense!" I cried "She pointed a frickin gun at me, I could've died if I hadn't have protected myself" She said back at me blankly "It's not my fault Penny turned out to be a murderer? Are you forgetting she shot Forsythe? Murdered Amber in cold blood?" Some of the Serpents started whispering to each other, agreeing. Gladys looked at me guiltily, "Fine, I'll leave!" I said "But just remember who saved your ass" I cried. I walked out of the wyrme, Tessa following me behind. "Alice!" She called "Wait up!" I stopped and turned around, facing her. "They'll get over it" She said, I laughed "It's been 6 months! I thought they'd be over it by now, accept the fact the Penny is never coming back" She bit her lip and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Just give them a little more time, soon they'll see you for what you truly are" She smiled "A hero" I raised my eyebrow but hugged her all the same. At least she was there for me I guess.
