Trissalia Pearl
“You're an insolent liar!”
“How dare you hide this from us! How could you?!” My father shouted as he reaches for his chest.
Fifteen minutes ago I received a call from him ordering me to come home. I did not question what is going on because the moment I answered his call, I know that the news already reached them and from the tone of his voice, he was not happy...at all.
You married a man without our knowledge and consent,” my mom's soft voice did not cover the disappointment on it.
Consent?
Lihim akong napangisi. I guess this is the first time they saw my calmest and loving parents shouts at me because we always do this discreetly. And my dad's soundproof office is the witness of all the scars I have in my heart and all the unyet healed wounds of my soul.
“Would you like to do this inside your office, dad?” I said and smiled to annoy him, but it did not lessen the physical and emotional pain I am bearing.
I even saw my mom's pitied look but funny, isn't it?
“You never learn, child! Until when are you going to disapppoint us?!” he shouts, as he strike his cane unto me. It was too late for me to dodge his another yet hurtful strike that hit the side of my head.
I stared at them coldly. “I love my husband and that is the truth. And I am sorry for not telling you that I was married but that doesn't change the fact that with or without your knowledge, I am still going to marry him.”
Inspite the throbbing pain is getting deeper, my heart lighten because for all the years that I was living the life of Trissalia, this is the first time I speak the truth. The words I wanted them to hear, although not enough, I know that I showed them the gist of my feelings. I am relieved.
My father stares back at me as he held his head high. “I am going to file your annulment petition. Whether you like or not, you are going to annul that man.”
I started laughing like an idiot when he said those words. My mom says nothing but only watches us. I am going to die in the arms of my asshole father yet she's doing nothing.
My goodness, Salia, kailan ba sila may ginawa para sa 'yo?
“The man you are calling has a name. His name is Code Ynares, the man I am going to spend the rest of my fucking life, whether you approve it or not! And guess what, I am not going to annul him just because you ordered it because this time and forward, I am going to decide for my self!”
