It had been almost two weeks Will noted glumly as he got out of bed. As usual he hadn't been able to enjoy anything good for long. Of course he had David but losing Mike had sent him right back to the depressed lonely person he was before. He had worried a couple times that he was going to scare David off, but David had just continued to be amazing about everything. Normally content to just sit next to Will and talk about his day while Will stared off into space.

His mom had of course been concerned at him. Originally, he hadn't wanted to tell her about the fight with Mike, but her incessant pestering made it clear that he couldn't avoid the topic. "Mike and I had a fight mom. It was his fault, and he still hasn't called or talked to me at all." Joyce's face immediately transformed into the worried mother Will was so tired of seeing. He loved her but it couldn't be healthy for her to worry about him like this. Still, she was his mom and she deserved to know. "I don't know if we're gonna come back from this one mom." He said trying to stop his voice from wavering.
Joyce held him tightly. "Of course you're gonna come back from this. You're Mike and Will." Will nodded trying to believe her. A horn honked. Joyce turned to look at the door, "Does he know he's allowed to come inside?" Will rolled his eyes secretly thanking David for his timing. He did not want to be talking about Mike with his mother anymore.

He got into David's car sighing. David looked at him in worry.
"Don't look at me like that please."
"Look at you like what?"
"Like everyone does."
David looked confused and frustrated, "How does everyone look at you Will."
"Like I'm this fragile broken thing that has to be tiptoed around."
David's expression relaxed a bit as he understood. "I'll try not to. But I'm worried about you Will."
Will just shrugged. "You haven't known me very long so it seems concerning, but I get like this sometimes. I'm sorry I should have warned you." David nodded, "It's fine Will you didn't have to warn me. But listen, just because it happens often doesn't mean it's healthy." Will nodded.
"Did you want to come over to my place after school?"
Will looked at him in surprise. They had been dating for a week and a bit and Will still hadn't been over to David's house. As a matter of fact he didn't even know where David lived, he realized. "Okay!" David grinned that charming grin he seemed to have reserved for only Will. He dropped on of his hands down from the steering Will and grabbed Will's hand. Will blushed and grinned back at him.

As they were about to walk into the door Mike ran towards them. Will instinctively turned to look at David. Flashing his eyes wide as if to say support system. David understood and stood in between where Mike was running towards them and Will. Mike arrived and suddenly looked apprehensive. "Look sorry I know things are weird right now..." Will scoffed. Weird right now? That's how Mike was gonna describe it. Mike gave him a hurt look but continued. "I just thought you might want to know; Max just woke up."

For moment things were how they used to be? Will forgot about David and jumped up letting out an excited laugh. He grinned at Mike "You're not joking?" Mike looked offended. "Why would I joke about that Will?"
Then things were back to how they were now. "You've done a lot of out of character things lately Mike." He scowled at the dark-haired boy, then turned to David.
"I've got to skip and go see Max. Also I'll have to cancel for tonight. I'm so sorry."
David gave him a small smile "Don't be sorry Will. This is obviously more important, although do you think you could get a ride with someone else to the hospital? I'll be in deep shit if I skip."

Will nodded eagerly, "Of course. Thanks for understanding." He squeezed David's shoulder then turned to a scowling Mike, who's eyes were on David's shoulder. "Can I get a ride with you to the hospital?" Mike turned to look at him, hopeful now. "Yeah of course!" "I'm taking El and Dustin too. "Sounds good." Will nodded as they walked to Mike's car.

As they sat in the car waiting for the others, silent tension hung in the air. Mike turned to look at Will.
"Can we please talk about it?" He begged."
"What is there to say, Mike?" Will said stonily.
And that was the end of that. However, Will could have sworn he saw Mike staring at him through his bangs. The regret was obvious on the boy's face, but Will was not going to let him be forgiven as easily as he had in the past. Mike was going to have to work for it this time.
