Gemma woke up the next morning and walked down the stairs and she instantly smelled blood, she walked into the living room and saw Klaus and Elijah reading and a dead girl on the coffee table. She felt Rebekah's presence come up behind her;
"So, this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family? Vampire book club?" Rebekah said to them.
"Reading edifies the mind, sister. Isn't that right, Elijah?"
"Yes, that's quite right Niklaus."
"And the dead girl?" Gemma questioned.
"This is a...." he tried to search for the word, "peace offering."
"I presumed, after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish."
"And I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought. I'd simply prefer to see a change in behavior that indicated contrition and personal growth." Elijah said clearly annoyed and Klaus just rolled his eyes,
"Not this nonsense." he said gesturing to the dead good.
"Well, I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?"
"Well, I suppose Gemma and I'll fetch the rubbish bin, because she's staining a two hundred-year-old carpet." Elijah looked up from his book.
"Ah, yes." Gemma left and sees Hayley in the kitchen.
"Hey mama wolf."
"Shut up, Gem." the two girls hug and Hayley started going through the fridge. Gemma sat down at the island. Elijah joined them in the kitchen.
"Good morning, ladies." Hayley smiles.
"Hey." Hayley said. Rebekah reenters the house through the back door, dragging a trash can behind her, "listen, I know I'm the only in the house that drinks milk, but would it kill any of you to make sure it's on the grocery list?"
"Speaking of, add bleach." she stomps her way through the kitchen and into the living room. Elijah begins digging around in the cupboards while Hayley pulls ice cream out of the freezer."
"You know, I do hope my siblings were hospitable to you in my absence."
"In your absence, as you like to call it-which is a way-too-polite way of saying that your brother put a dagger in your heart-" she looks up to see Elijah with a bowl, a spoon, and a bag of cereal."
"Both Gemma and I were attacked by French Quarter vampires, I've had to live a house with a secret dungeon full of coffins, and I was nearly murdered by witches who are convinced my baby is Lucifer." Elijah pulled out orange juice and milk from the fridge, and pours the cereal and milk into a bowl."
"Oh. Milk." she paused, "they've been fine. Your siblings are weirdly protective. I know, I have you to thank for that. And Gemma here, she has been a weird life saver."
"I'm just happy to see that you're in one piece," he smiled and handed Hayley the bowl of cereal, "so, back to the murderous witches. I have some concerns."
"They're evil.. And, my life is still magically linked to Sophie Deveraux, which is no comforting."
"Yes, I think it's time we took care of that little problem." Rebekah re-entered the kitchen, dragging the dead girl behind her."
"I am all for it. As soon as they're unlinked, we get to leave this crap town. Who do we have to kill?"
"Probably no one." Elijah said causing Gemma and Hayley to shoot him a look, "alright, potentially everyone." he turned to leave the kitchen.
