Chapter Twenty

It's been a couple weeks since Gemma and Stefan found out they were having a twins and they were currently with Caroline at a paint shop looking at different paint samples. 

"Caroline, seriously? Can't this wait?" Gemma pestered her friend

"No! We have to do it now, or you will procrastinate and your children will be left with bare walls."

"Your friend is right, it looks like you're about to give birth in two months." the woman helping them commented. Gemma growled at the girl and she jumped, Stefan grabbed her hand and turned to the girl. The woman was telling the truth, her stomach showed that she was seven months pregnant and not just two. Meredith claimed that it would slow down and she would reach full term, but Gemma wasn't convinced. 

"She's a little on edge, twins were unexpected."

"What shade of blue are you guys wanting to do?"

"Tardis blue." Gemma said.

"I have the perfect one then!" 

"God, it's hot in here." Gemma commented taking off the sweater she was wearing leaving herself in the red tank top, "pregnancy glow is a lie. It's sweat." she mumbled out a few curse words before following the woman.

"When I had my third child, it was so bad. I wore shorts in winter." the sales woman told Gemma.

"So it's not just me. Thank god."

"Not just you, honey. How is this? My husband loves Doctor Who and we used it as a mural piece in his office."

"Beautiful. Freaking beautiful." Gemma handed the paint chip to Stefan and he nodded to her, kissing her temple, Caroline came up beside them and looked, her nose scrunched up.

"What if you have two girls.. the room needs to be pink."

"No. I know Elena told you to look at my Pinterest and I know you saw my plans for a nursery. It's Doctor Who. No pink. Well take two gallons." the woman smiled and went behind the counter and began mixing it.

"Fine! But I blame you for Rebekah constantly calling me and saying that you're coming to New Orleans for a baby shower." Gemma rolled her eyes.

"I am not. I will call her and tell her that her Original ass needs to come back to Mystic Falls, I really do not feel like seeing her brother again or Marcel." Stefan gave her a look and rubbed his thumb along hers, "Klaus sends me weekly gifts for the children in hopes I will name one Niklaus."

"We are not naming one our children after that evil hybrid." Caroline said.

"Our children? Pretty sure you were not involved in the production of these children.."

"Your children. Whatever. You're the only two out of us, who will be able to have kids. I want to be involved!"

"You will be, Care. I promise." the woman finished the paint and Stefan took them in his hand and they went to go pay for the items. They walked towards their cars and stood next to them, Stefan put the paint cans in the car and came to wrap his arm around Gemma's waist as her and Caroline talked about going to some baby store to make a registry, "Caroline, I'm tired. I need food. I need a nap. I need sex. I need you to go away. I will call you when I'm ready for the registry part. Okay?"

"Yeah, okay." Caroline's feelings were clearly hurt and Gemma knew that, so she wrapped her arms around Caroline's slim figure and ran a hand through Caroline's hair and held onto her.

"Friday, Meredith is coming over for an ultrasound. Come over?"

"YES!" Caroline was happy again and jumped up and down a little bit. They said their goodbyes and Stefan helped Gemma get into his car and he got into the drivers seat and started the ignition.
