Chapter Fifteen

When Gemma woke up the next morning she heard the shower in her bathroom was on. She went inside and began to brush her teeth, Stefan popped his head at and smiled at Gemma, she returned it with a mouth full of toothpaste and then laughed.

"Elena asked to come over, needs my helping studying.."

"Okay. Sounds good." Gemma said after finishing. She put her tooth brush away and went back into her room. She heard the shower turn off and Stefan came out with a towel around his waist. He wrapped his wet arms around Gemma's waist, he kissed her neck. Gemma bit her lip and held back a moan. They broke apart when they heard the doorbell.

"That's Elena."

"She has a key, why didn't she use it?"

"Not sure, can you get it, while I get dressed."

"Yeah." Gemma used her speed and opened the door, "hey, Elena. Sorry I just woke up and Stefan just got out of the shower."

"It's fine." Stefan came down fully dressed and smiled at Elena.

"I have a paper to write, but have fun studying." Stefan kissed Gemma on her lips before she went back upstairs, she heard them sit in the living and they began talking. 

Sometime later the doorbell rang again, Gemma went out of her room and stood at the top of the stairs. Stefan opened the door and she saw Caroline. 

"You were right. He's off the rails. This is from my mom." Caroline handed Stefan some papers,

"Let me guess: missing persons and animal attacks." he said quietly 

"Check and check, but there's something else. All of the victims were found inside their homes without their heads... and their skin was desiccated."

"Damon's feeding on vampires..." Stefan flipped opened the folder, "I shouldn't have let him go." Gemma was next to him in the next second.

"No, don't you dare turn Damon being crazy to a Stefan guilt trip. Damon is a grown man. No one could've stopped him from going after Wes."

"I guess Wes must have injected him with whatever he was going to give Elena that makes vampires feed on vampires."

"Ah. Good news, bad news. Bad news is that when this happened to Jesse, we had to kill him, but the good news is.. I'm sorry. Usually there's some good news."

"I have to find him."

"Well I'll go with you. Maybe I can you know.."

"Yeah, I'll go too." Elena said 

"Elena, hey! I didn't know that you were here."

"Well, Stefan has been helping me study."

"Oh. Stefan who doesn't go to college."

"Stefan, who's an expert in history."

"Uh-huh." Caroline's phone rang, "it's Tyler." she said looking at Gemma. She answered, "hey." she said into the phone, "no, why?" she waited, "okay. Well, I'll come right over." they hung up.

"Maybe I should come with you." Elena said.

"No, no. You deal with Damon. We can handle this."

"Okay. I'm going to get some clothes and you guys will pick me up at my dorm?"

"Sure." Elena left the house.

"So is it just me or is Elena being weird?" Caroline asked Gemma and Stefan, "especially with Elena and you." she said pointing at Stefan.

"There's nothing weird going on between Elena and I."

"Come on, Stefan! When I got back into town, she wanted Damon back and wanted us together. But when we showed up as a couple to the party thing, she was giving off a jealous vibe." Gemma told him, "something is up."
