Chapter Seventeen

Stefan woke Gemma up the next morning in the small dorm room they were in, they got dress and went and waited for Elena to wake up. The couple sat together in a comfortable silence, then they heard Elena's voice. Stefan was the first to get up;

"Hello?" Elena called again, confusion in her voice.

"Hey. You're awake."

"Stefan... what are you doing here? Where is everyone?" Gemma came into the clearing.

"Everyone's gone. The whole school cleared out for spring break. You've been in and our since you first woke up." Gemma told her with a smile.

"Oh. O-ok. That makes sense. I thought I was going crazy." Elena tried to walk to them but was stopped by the boundary spell, "what's going on? Wh-y?"

"We had to seal you into the building... we've got a lot of catching up to do."

"That last thing I remember, I was running through the woods... m-my head felt like it was being attacked by Katherine's whole life. I saw Damon and I threw my arms around him...and... nothing."

"Yeah, that was three weeks ago, Elena." Gemma told her. 

"Three weeks ago? Wow. Three weeks... yet it took just one second for Katherine to infect me with some virus that makes me want to kill all my friends.."

"Oh yeah. You know Katherine, she's not about to go out without a grand finale."

"Do you really think this whole lock-down is necessary. I mean, I feel fine."

"Look.. we shouldn't take any chances. If Damon taught us anything is that the virus makes you want to attack at the mere scent of vampire blood."

"Well, how did you..." Elena held up her hand to the force field.

"Liv."

"Liv?"

"She's a new witch. Bonnie's been teaching her some spells. Look, I know this is a lot to process, but just know that Caroline's out, looking for the antidote and in the mean time, we've figured out how to ration blood to keep you satiated. We're going to figure this out, okay?"

"I need to talk to Damon, but Katherine put a lock on my phone."

"We will go get you a new one. There's a payphone over there." Elena nodded. Gemma and Stefan both left, they got to the store and got Elena a new phone.Gemma stopped when they got outside and felt hungry.

"Can we go in? I want a smoothie."

"Yeah, you hungry?"

"For human food, no blood." he nodded clearly concerned. They went inside and Gemma ordered herself a smoothie. She also bought a cookie and a bag of chips. They back into the car and drove in the direction of the dorm. When they got there, they went inside.

"Elena?" Stefan yelled when they got inside. Elena came back and walked over to them. She fell to the ground, "you okay?"

"Uh.. not feeling so good, all of a sudden." Stefan left the room.

"That's probably because you're starving." Gemma told her.

"Yeah..." Stefan returned with a bottle of his blood. 

"Here, uh. I got you four ounces of my blood." he put the bottle on the mantle of the fire place, "you won't be scaling any buildings, but it'll curb the cravings."

"Thank you." Elena opened the bottle and quickly drained it's contents, "I need more."

"Sorry."
