*Leighton's POV*

"I can't believe this is our last night with you here" Sam expressed, picking up his slice of pizza as we sat on the back patio furniture at my parents house.

"Yeah, but it'll be good. I have a good feeling about this. It helps that I already have things lined up. I have goals etcetera" I smiled and he nodded, scooting the pizza box out of his way.

"How does your family feel about it? I know Colby said he supported it, and Kat seemed alright about it" Sam asked and I sighed.

"There were mixed feelings for sure. You know, I'm still their little girl even though I'm not exactly innocent anymore. It was a hard decision, but we think it's the right decision. I'm going to live with my Aunt and Uncle, and do odd jobs for them to earn cash to get on my feet, and then I talked with someone who works at this Bakery I like, I think I took you there? And we talked about the logistics of that and if my record mattered, and uh.. it's not exactly legal, but I will be working there and getting cash payments for my work until I can get my record gone" I explained, Sam cocking an eyebrow.

"Can't they get in trouble for that?" He asked and my lips formed a thin line.

"As long as you don't tell, we'll be fine" I shrugged and he eyed me, but stayed quiet.

Before I could talk again, I heard the sweet sound of my daughter's laugh, causing me to look up and out at the lawn in front of us.

I immediately smiled, seeing Colby and Kat making her giggle like crazy.

"God I love that giggle" I heard Colby say which made my heart swell.

"You're fucked aren't you" Sam said, chuckling.

"Huh?"

"You totally have that love sick puppy look"

"Hey!" I exclaimed, Sam grinning.

"It's true!" he shot back, myself frowning.

"She looks at him like he hung the moon" I sighed, Sam nodding.

"It's called Love Leigh" He said and my shoulders relaxed as I leaned back against the patio chair, rocking slightly.

"Love's a stupid word" I muttered, picking a pepperoni off my pizza slice and setting it to the side.

"You know, you're supposed to eat those" Sam chimed and I shook my head.

"No thank you"

"Then why did we get pepperoni?" He asked.

"Because I was out ruled"

"Leigh! Look!" Kat called, myself turning to see what she was yelling about.

I immediately smiled as Colby held Gemma up on his feet, her arms held upwards by his hands as he carefully moved his feet, a proud smile on his face as Gemma "walked".

"Look at our little overachiever! She's already walking!" Sam joked and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face even if I tried.

"I still can't believe she has her first tooth! She truly is growing up right in front of us, and somehow I feel like I'm still missing it" I sighed, picking up my pizza so I could take a bite.

"I guess it's true that you blink and you're sending them off to college" Sam said and I nodded and then heard the patio door screech open.

"Hey kiddos!" I heard Aunt Ginger say, causing me to get up and toddler over to her, enveloping her in my hug.
