*Leighton's POV*

Gemma had returned home from Gabriel's parents house and when I asked her if she had fun at Mimi's, she said no.

She came home in a horrible mood, and I thought a nap would fix it, but even with Uncle Landon play time and a special muffin snack, she was still moody.

I had one more thing up my sleeve...

"Want to draw a pretty picture for Coco?" I asked, Gemma perking up.

"Coco?" She asked and I nodded, grabbing some printer paper, cutting it in half and folding the halves into halves.

I laid down a tablecloth just in case, placing her bucket of drawing supplies on it.

My dad one day brought over some crayons and markers, claiming we had to start young to carry the legacy; staying for a few hours as they colored together.

Gemma came running over to me, climbing up onto the chair. I grabbed a black sharpie and wrote "You're Invited" on the front, flipping open to the middle and writing "Coco is formally invited to Gem Gem's 2nd birthday! RSVP with mama for info!"

I let her have free reign with the art supplies, scribbling all over the piece of paper as I continued to write out on the papers.

Gemma was getting more and more into coloring, so I figured this would be a fun activity to lift her spirits, plus, her birthday was sneaking up on us and I needed to make sure I invited people to it.

I was doing one of the last pieces when Gemma tugged at my arm, messing up where I had been writing.

"Mama?"

"Yes baby?" I hummed, accepting the fact that Logan's invitation was just gonna look like this now.

"Elp?"

"With what honey?"

She frowned, staring down at her paper that was all scribbled on.

I flipped it open to the middle, placing her sippy cup on the edge so it didn't shut. "There go baby" I kissed her head, Gemma beginning to scribble again.

I was surprised by how long this kept her attention, that I almost wished I had been productive during this time.

I was trying to remind myself to live in the moment and hang out with her, and not just throw an activity at her so I could vacuum.

I heard the front door open, the voices of Landon, Finn and Xander coming into the apartment.

"There's my baby G!" Landon cooed, coming over to kiss her head, only for her eyes to go wide and cover her work.

"NO!" She screamed, all of our eyes widening at the outburst.

"Gemma Lorraine, inside voice-" I tried to reprimand, but it was useless.

"No!" She yelled again, her eyes filling with tears, and I finally noticed what she was doing.

She didn't want him to see that she was working on her birthday invitations.

I mouthed "Go" to Landon, winking at him, hoping he got the gist, thanking god when he nodded and ushered everyone away.

I stood in the kitchen, starting dinner for the two of us when Colby tried to FaceTime me. The second I accepted it and Gemma heard his voice, she got excited but then angry, yelling at me.

"Gemma Lorraine, don't yell at mommy" I warned, not wanting to get a noise complaint.

"What's her issue?" He asked as I prompted him against the counter.
