Once again I was a prisoner in my own home... Or rather Chris's home. Since this article was released everything was once again turned on its head. I couldn't go to work as there was now paps surrounding it 24/7. I wasn't able to go home because there was paps surrounding it 24/7. I was pretty much stuck inside at Chris's, only going outside as the sun was going down just in case someone would drive by and try to take shots from the road. For the most part the view of the house was obstructed by trees and bushes but I didn't trust it. I didn't trust a lot these days.
Megan did a thorough search into who had been interviewed for this exclusive and all signs pointed to my biological mother being the informant. Many of the stories that were included were things that only she had knowledge of. Well her and my stepfather. The stories weren't as bad as I first expected but they told of an unstable girl, who would manipulate anyone to get her way. And this of course laid way to millions of lovely comments about me on the internet.
I had completely deactivated all of my social media accounts and deleted every app from my phone. I was practically catatonic most days. I wouldn't get out of bed, unless it was to use the bathroom, I hardly talked to anyone any more, including Chris. I didn't know who to trust or who I could be honest with. I wasn't the girl those articles. The girl that was there... she had been scared, alone, mistreated, abused. The things that she did... that I did, were in response to those things. Chris assured me that this didn't change how he, or his family, saw me but I couldn't get out of my head about it.
*Chris's POV*
"I don't know what to do Ma. She won't get out of bed, she won't eat. I'm worried that she's going to do something horrible to herself." I say over the phone one afternoon as I check in on Lexi.
"A lot was given to those reporters Chris, more than what she had told you. And everything painted her in a bad light."
"I know... I just... I don't know how to help her Ma, and I'm terrified."
"She's going to need to work past this on her own Chris. Let her know you're there, and that you're not going anywhere and she will work out the rest. She's strong. She has to be to survive what she's survived." We say goodbye before hanging up and I walk into my room... our room.
"Hey, you hungry?" I ask her, going to sit beside her. She looks at me, her once bright eyes dulled from the recent events.
*Lexi's POV*
I hear Chris come in, feel the bed dip under his weight as he sits on the edge by my face. "Hey, you hungry?" He asks. I look up at him and I can see the concern all over his face as he takes in my appearance.
I shake my head. I don't have the energy to do much these days. He looks away for a second and I can tell how I'm reacting to this is affecting him too. He looks like he hasn't properly slept in weeks. "I'm sorry." I whisper, my voice hoarse from non-use.
He looks over at me, a brief moment of shock crossing his features before schooling them. "Don't apologize. Shit hit the fan really bad this time."
"I'm sorry." I whisper again. "I didn't mean for you to get brought down by this too."
"You haven't. My team has been playing damage control for both of us. They're looking into what options we have available to us to get this to go away."
I nod before sitting up. "God I smell." I say with a small chuckle that doesn't quite sound genuine. "I'm going to go take a shower." I say, pushing the blankets off of me and walking towards the en suite.
...
Weeks turn into months and I slowly return to normal. Rumors and gossip die down as some other person gets their turn under the unflattering spotlight. Soon it's time for Chris to leave for filming again. "Are you sure that you have to go?" I joke as we lay in bed together one morning.
