Billie has barely said anything since we let from roller skating. She is worrying me a bit, I noticed she slipped after her second fall but she hasn't been acting little.
"Baby, do you want something from McDonald's before we get home?" I ask pulling into the drive-thru line.
"Jus' chicken nuggets" she mutters looking down in her lap.
I was gonna say something but the car behind me honked their horn letting me know I was up next to order. So I order the food and when we get it I pull into the lot. I undo my seatbelt and turn to look at Billie in the backseat.
"Baby why don't you come to the front with me while we eat, huh?"
She doesn't say anything, she just climbs into the front seat and sits quietly.
"Billie?"
She takes a moment before she looks up at me waiting for me to continue, "what's wrong, darling?"
Billie sighs a little, "nothing."
"Be honest with me baby, tell me what's wrong. Are you still upset because of your fall?"
She shakes her head 'no' but didn't say anything else.
"Baby look at me" I gently cup her cheek, she gazes at me with sad eyes. "Tell me what's wrong, please?"
Her lips part and she frowns, "B-Biwie wan stay big so you hab' fun wif me before FinFin take me 'way but is too hard!"
I push my seat as far back at it can go and pull the smaller girl onto my lap, "you don't have to be big for me to have fun with you. I love big you and small you okay? Don't stress yourself about trying to be big if you can't" I assure her gently.
"Is okay?" She peers up at me.
"Yes, it's okay sweet girl" I can't help but smile at her. "I love you" I kiss her forehead.
"I lub you too mama" she smiles and pecks my lips.
"Wanna eat your food now?" I reach for the bag and place her small box of nuggets on the console.
"Uh huh" she nods reaching for one of her nuggets.
** Time Skip a few days later **
5 days until Finneas comes
We were peacefully sleeping until I feel Billie sit up in the bed. A whine slips from her lips and I wake up completely.
"What's wrong baby?" I husk, my eyes adjusting to the darkness.
Billie had been oddly quiet today, she didn't want to play really and she barely touched any of her food. She just laid around for most of the day.
Another cry leaves Billie mouth, so I get out of bed and flick on the light. I'm blinded for a few seconds from the brightness before I notice Billie holding her hands over her stomach.
"Does your tummy hurt, darling?" I coo examining her for any other signs of discomfort. A thin layer of sweat coated her forehead causing stray hairs to stick to her skin and she looks pale.
"Mama huwt' make go 'way" she cries tears rolling down her face. Suddenly her cries stop and she goes quiet.
"Billie is everything-"
Billie leans over the edge of the bed and throws up all over the floor. Once she done she starts to cry again. Taking the bottom of her shirt I wipe off her mouth and pull the shirt off and toss it to the side.
Billie climbs into my lap wrapping her arms around me, "you're okay baby, you're okay" I hum trying to soothe her.
"Mama's gonna get you some medicine and some water okay? I'll be right back" carefully I lay the sick girl down and get out of bed making sure the avoid the puddle of throw up.
Once I find it I rush back to the room, "here baby, it might taste a little nasty but just drink the water okay?"
"No! No wan nasty stuff" she whines.
"It will make you feel better, please? For me?"
She crosses her arms over her chest but accepts the spoon full of medicine and I do my best to not laugh at her disgusted facial expression. She takes the water and drinks as much as she can to get rid of the awful taste.
"Mama lay wif me" my poor baby begs.
"I will I just have to clean this first" I kiss her cheek and leave the room to get paper towels, a garbage bag, my swiffer mop and some cleaning product that doesn't have a strong smell.
I clean up the vomit trying so hard not to vomit myself.
"Mama feel icky 'gain" she whines.
"Okay come on baby let's go to the bathroom" I panic scooping up the small girl and rushing to the bathroom.
Billie empties the contents of her stomach one again, I move the strays hairs out of her face and rub her back.
"Poor baby" I whimper.
When she finishes I wipe her mouth and she wraps her arms around my neck, hugging me.
"Feel a little better, angel?" She nods against me.
I hold her on my hip as we go back into the room, I pull back the comforter ad lay her down on the bed.
"Want your paci and stitch?" I offer.
"Mhm and mama" she pouts.
"I'm here baby, mama's gonna lay with you" I cup her cheek, caressing it with my thumb.
I put her pacifier to her mouth and she takes it then I give her stitch and cuddle my sick baby.
